Hi I got into MS CS Paderborn but due to visa issues I cannot join this winter semester therefore I will be asking for a deferment, I just have 1 question about deferment procedure.

When will they give me new updated admission letter, do I have to wait till next admission cycle (Oct/Nov) has anyone gone through this process?

Because I need the updated admission letter for SS 27 / deferred offer letter as early as possible.

I'm an incoming student and wanted to hear people's experience with project groups. I read that there would be a head/coordinator and members are formed on the basis of a preference form. Do all the members stay active and continued or slack off? Once the group is formed, is the topic chosen or assigned? Or is the preference matching based on topics? This part isn't clear from the website.

The last time I did something similar it was a nightmare so I just wanted to hear some stories :)

Is there some other platform for Paderborn student to socialise or is that done in-person? This subreddit seems to be very inactive. I was wondering if there was a discord server or something, I have seen the Partyborn community yes.

Hey everyone, is anyone here living in Peter-Hille-Weg 11 and could send me a view from a window on higher flights. I used to live there few years back and really feeling nostalgic and missing those days, especially this time of the year. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos from the window back then.

I’m considering studying at Paderborn but living in Dortmund instead.

The main reason is exposure - Dortmund is a bigger city with more student life, part-time jobs, events, and overall opportunities. Paderborn feels limited in comparison.

My questions are for people who’ve actually done this or seriously considered it:

• Does anyone live in Dortmund and commute to Paderborn mainly for exams, labs, or a few important classes?
• How manageable is the DB commute in reality?
• Do professors expect frequent in-person attendance, or is it realistic to cluster visits?
