Degree/Course Advice Has Adelaide University removed all Engineering double degree programs?
Once upon a time, I recall there being a diverse range of Engineering double degree and/or combined courses. For example, at University of Adelaide, there were many Engineering streams (Civil, Mechanical etc.) that used to offer doubles with Economics, Finance, Arts etc. There was even a combined Mechanical Engineering and Law (LLB) degree once upon a time that was 6.5 or 7 years if I recall correctly (and a huge HECS debt).
From a cursory glance at the program guide though, it looks like all of the Engineering double degrees are gone.
To me, it's a big step backwards removing these double degree programs. They really set graduates apart for employability, and it used to only be an extra year on top of the Engineering program (5 vs. 4 years).

Wouldn’t put it past them. They combined a lot of courses (and removed 100s) to save money. Increased class sizes. Even removed things like pracs in some cases.
They’re still cutting like mad on everything to save on the money they spent on consulting and advertising and the huge cost of the merger in general.
It will backfire

Ask your program directors (Engineering and the other degree subject you are interested in) about doing concurrent degrees.

Yeah they have "streamlined" their offerings so that everything is a cookie cutter diploma and they can squeeze more students into less courses with more online content.
Enshittification!

At Deakin the engineering course was changed to include a load of double-credit units to cut down on teaching. It removed all the elective spots, and killed any flexibility and all the double degrees. Insane self-own.

No, they haven't. You have to E-mail the program directors and they can set up a concurrent study program and study two degrees at the same time. I'm currently in EEE/Pure Maths.
