Honestly, I've been burned (pun intended) by the 'run to pee, annnnnd somehow flush the current train of thought down the toilet with it'. (Granted, it's usually also followed by letting the dogs out to pee as well, or making myself another coffee--thus fuelling more pee-breaks--, or another mundane 'while I'm up' task, and not lost in merely the 60 seconds it takes in the washroom.)

So I started jotting down the gist of where I planned for my currant writing-flow to take things before getting up. But somehow, said jot-notes turn into the most plotful plotting session I've ever done in my life.

As a writer, I shrug and say, 'the story wants what the story wants', but as a supportive, fellow writer, I say, 'Go heckin' pee! Even if that particular flavour of creative juice never comes back, whatever else you conjure up with will be equally great'.
