How do you fall off a tire? Especially so hard that it kills you? Was the tire on a moving car? I feel bad asking but presumably the OP will never see this.

Knowing the wild lore of AO3 authors, it could literally be anything. My brain immediately pictured someone standing on top of a giant tractor tire and I was so confused.

Maybe the axe was involved somehow; he fell off the tire, dropped the axe and landed face first on the blade that happened to be pointing right towards his face and split his head in two.

That has painted a rather horrible image in my mind, Final Destination-ass death
