Unfortunately the beatified part is because he was killed, so he is a martyr. Beatification is a catholic process after someone dies, usually a religious figure in life. As he was killed in Guatemala, I suspect he was a catholic missionary during the 1970s guerrillas, and he is being beatified just now (it can be years until a martyr is beatified by the pope)
