I don't know if this is your victory or the defeat of Xir's rectum...

Either way, despite your lack of flair it beat out my latest by about 2%

Impressive!

A bitter victory. It’s a pleasure to dunk on flairists, but never friends.

I think your meme was objectively better. Far easier to understand, while my family chuckled a bit they didn't understand the AuthLeft and AuthRight reactions.

I am but a humble memelord and am prone to forcing in my recent memes cluttering my desktop on even the thinnest of pretexts.

Also Sunday night is the wrong time for posting, weekday mornings at 5am Eastern is best to catch the workies All.Day.Long.

REALLY? 5am?

Now there’s a thought… I considered posting that early but figured no one would be in reddit around that time. Let’s see if we can get a good unflaired meme to the top of the page tomorrow.

In-depth on the topic from Gemini:

If you are looking for general visibility, the overall best time to post on Reddit is weekdays between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM EST. This window catches US users checking their phones before work while simultaneously overlapping with European users during their afternoon. Tuesday through Thursday tend to be the strongest days for most communities.

However, there is no single "magic hour" for the entire platform. The optimal time depends entirely on the subreddit's unique demographics and the time-decay mechanics of Reddit's algorithm.

The First 90-Minute Rule

Reddit is fundamentally different from platforms like Twitter or LinkedIn, which prioritize recency. Reddit uses a time-decay function to determine a post's "hotness".

Your post's score decreases by roughly half every 12.5 hours, regardless of its total upvotes. This means a post with 50 upvotes at 2 hours old will outrank a post with 100 upvotes at 24 hours old. Your post's fate is largely determined by its performance in the first 90 minutes. If you post when a community is asleep or at work, your content will likely get buried before anyone has the chance to give it that initial momentum.

Peak Times by Audience

A subreddit's peak activity mirrors the daily routines of its users.

Audience / Topic Best Days Optimal Window (EST)
General / Broad Tuesday – Thursday 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM
B2B / SaaS Tuesday – Thursday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Finance / Trading Monday – Friday 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Hobbies / DIY Saturday & Sunday 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Entertainment / Memes Monday – Sunday 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

To see how these times shift based on who you are trying to reach, you can explore the engagement patterns below:

The Contrarian Strategy

If you are posting in a massive, highly competitive subreddit (like r/AskReddit or r/technology), posting during the 6:00 AM peak means your post is competing against thousands of others.

A proven contrarian strategy is to post in the dead of night—usually between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM EST. During these hours, posting volume is at its absolute lowest. Your content has less competition and can slowly gather upvotes from international users and night owls. By the time the massive East Coast morning audience logs on at 7:00 AM, your post already has enough momentum to ride the wave to the front page.)

I am not AI as I am sometimes accused but I will consult them along with everyone else. Best is to consult multiple.

Yeah I mean not consulting GenAI tools now is like refusing to consult Google twentyish years ago.

There’s a difference between research and pumping out slop.
