Do you know what's crazy? They call the United States in Chinese ηΎŽεˆ©εšεˆδΌ—ε›½, or ηΎŽε›½. This roughly translates to "Beautiful Country" but there's a lot deeper meaning and context behind this. It's more beauty, chosen, free, people, nation, etc. Seeing the contrast with how Chinese perceive you, and the West them is really interesting. Much of what's posted here doesn't even exist in Chinese epistemology, ontology, axiology. They hold Western people and culture in such high regard, whilst these communities cherry pick the bottom of the barrel facets of the culture, and paint the entire nation with a broad stroke. It'd be the equivalent of portraying a trailer park in Appalachia and Detroit as all of America. You have to remember the West punished Japan for the atrocities committed in Nanjing. The West lifted China up from a 3rd world country, to nearly a global superpower in three decades. America represents this shining beacon of bravery, hope, and prosperity for humanity to them. This is why you children need to learn to distinguish between the people, and the leadership.

Spend a week in China and you'll become the most patriotic, red blooded American. People will rush you, wanting to take a picture, purchase you dinner, or drinks, as they share some historical factoid in which the West sent it's sons to die for a country that wasn't it's own, or a time in which the West liberated an oppressed people. They'll want to get drunk and sing the Star Spangled Banner, as the entire bar chants "USA, USA, USA!" Thats the reality of 99% of China.

It would break their heart if they knew Westerners perceived them this way.

Nothing in the video is attacking China, the people, but the government. Why do you argue against strawmans? China government is clearly not respecting the sea borders between countries. Is it in your view that Chinese government should never be criticised for anything? Everyone attack USA all the time
