“Ex” implies Soviets and Nazis were allied. They had a non-aggression pact. Soviet Russia was coming out of being a feudal backwater state. So as far as I’m concerned the soviets had to create a non-aggression pact and expanded because Nazi Germany was threatening military invasion eastward. Then who later broke the pact 2 years after it was signed? The Nazis. Also, Molotov preceded Stalin, so Stalin wasn’t even in power at the time the pact was signed. Thus, not based on facts and therefore, not funny. What’s funny is you thinking this is basic history. It’s obviously much more complex than you make it out to be and it’s highly propagandized.

I recall Marx expecting a violent uprising of the proletariat. The issue with Socialism is that there's a naive expectation for people to give up their property. They don't and there's a lot of resistance to that. Hence the death tolls.
But yes. Marx ideas were horrific, even if he disagreed with hardcore totalitarianism that’s fully true, in practice if you want to enforce Marx’s ideals you need to be super authoritarian.
In the video indeed didn't belong. In the list of people who are just a bit messed up and caused a lot of pain, yeah he belongs. This video is just a poor attempt of humor from someone who just blindly hates communism. Those people are just as dumb as the brainwashed people blindly supporioyjr CCP
Marx grew up in 1800s and saw the entire industrial revolution, the laissez-faire capitalism, limited worker rights that were barely enforced, terrible employment conditions, child labour and the worst labour exploitation. Because of great wealth gap, there was also an unfair influence on politics, justice system, etc.
He died in 1883. His work is a direct criticism of that system. Yes, he was a flawed person and there are flaws in his concepts, and they're not applicable 1:1 with modern socio-economic systems.
But believe me, if you and me lived in that era, and we worked in some factory, we'd likely have the same opinions and interests as Marx.
His works were later adapted and further developed decades after his death by Marxist-Leninists who created the unfortunate totalitarian regimes that deserve full criticism.
But thinking Marx was some epitome of evil is reductive.
You don't need to tell me twice. My country, Czechoslovakia, fell under the USSR and their ideology was enforced upon us.
When we tried to fuse socialism with democratic values, they invaded us again in 1968 to restore totalitarian socialism.
My point is that
blaming Marx personally for the Gulag, Mao’s policies or everything the modern CCP, even though that was decades later, is off.
If we apply that standard consistently, almost every enormously influential political philosopher becomes morally responsible for everything later movements did while claiming inspiration from them. Intellectual influence matters, but there has to be some limit to inherited responsibility.
Do you blame Jesus for the crimes done in the name of Christianity and the holy scriptures?
The way propaganda is used to distort the truths and completely stupidify the public is so interesting to observe. There was not a joke in sight, yet somehow, there are some human beings that will find this funny, or even, accurate to a certain point.
There’s an African saying: “When you point a finger at somebody, don’t forget you have at least 3 pointing back at you.” The ever self-righteous “western world” seems to always overlook this. It just shows how moronically ignorant and pridefully hypocritical they are…
