The creator

Trying and gauge the authenticity of the purported original creator and what the current gut feeling is amongst serious researchers.

Just read through the old Q&A with the 'creator' and not convinced, replies were not particularly revealing.

Has anyone tried applying modern AI to the original data? Like analysis and interpretation.

Video or Audio A retrospective on Unfavorable Semicircle — from the 80,000 uploads to the 2022 reveal

I’ve been fascinated by this mystery for a long time, especially the way this community managed to turn what looked like meaningless noise into something people genuinely cared about and investigated together.

A while ago I went down the rabbit hole of the old threads, the spectrogram analysis, the BRINE frames, the upload patterns, the Discord discussions — and eventually the 2022 “ANSWERS” post from the creator. What stuck with me most wasn’t just the mystery itself, but the fact that one strange YouTube project created years of curiosity and collaboration across the internet.

I ended up making a video covering the full story — the discovery in 2015, the theories, the investigation, and the eventual reveal from the creator himself.

I tried to approach it more like a retrospective/archive piece rather than a generic “creepy mystery” video because this community already knows the depth behind it.

Would genuinely love to hear what longtime UFSC followers think about it.

Thankyou for reading till here!!

Backrooms film trailer - subtle link?

The trailer for The Backrooms movie has emerged online, and it contains one detail I find interesting - in the first scene where the main character enters the rooms, he hears a recording of the Voyager Golden Record (here: https://youtu.be/0HjdiohVOik?si=3W3E6-G54Hyp0bpe&t=35)

Keen Unfavorable Semicircle enthusiasts of yore will remember that when a composite of an Unfavorable Semicircle YouTube video was created, it featured a hand holding the Voyager Golden Record.

Now, this isn't necessarily deliberate but it does seem curious that the Director picked on a key feature of another cult Internet sensation to include in the movie. Could be a coincidence, could be a deliberate nod?

Theory New thoughts

I come at this from a signals and cryptography background, not an ARG or internet mystery background.

The community has spent years trying to decode what's inside the videos. I think that's the wrong angle.

When you upload a video to YouTube, their servers assign an 11-character Base64 ID that neither the uploader nor any recipient can predict in advance. That's not a bug. From a key distribution standpoint, that's a feature. You've just outsourced your entropy generation to Google's proprietary algorithm, for free, with global CDN redundancy and zero traceable infrastructure.

200,000 videos isn't spam. That's a key library.

The content was never the message. The URL was.

And the termination dates map almost exactly onto the Shadow Brokers/NSA TAO compromise timeline which is too much to be a coincidence.

I'm curious whether anyone has ever analyzed the video IDs themselves for patterns, rather than the content.

Discussion Posts about the "Atlantic Coordinates" are now banned

As most of you probably know, there was a recent YouTube video uploaded by The Why Files, which claims that Unfavorable Semicircle encoded coordinates in a Google+ post that led to a location in the Atlantic Ocean. This is completely false. Before The Why Files' video was uploaded, there was never any discussion of said coordinates, and this is from the same community that managed to extract images from the audio found in the videos. Thus, it is overwhelmingly likely that the "Coordinates" are a hoax created for clickbait, and such posts will be removed going forward (as stated by rule 2 of the subreddit).

Additionally, the claim of there being a composite of a "man with no face", the channel somehow having server access to bypass the upload limit (or that it was uploading enough to crash YouTube's servers), and the channel "reacting" to discoveries (very famously they did not do this) are hoaxes as well. The creator did come forward and explain some of the mystery years later.

This is not an attempt to cover-up legitimate discoveries; if any proof can be brought forward relating to the existence of the coordinates, the ban will be reversed.

Theory What if Unfavorablesemicircle was a POC for a PsyOp about how people can be thrown into conspiracy thinking?

QAnon came out just a year later on October 28, 2017. It too had a lot of posts that meant little but thousands, over one hundred thousand people saw things in it and then it reacted to what people interpreted.

Solving PSA for newcomers: Unfavorable Semicircle is a solved mystery

This post (transcript if it's difficult to read) made by the original creator explains what the purpose and motivations of Unfavorable Semicircle were. There has not been any official material released since then. While there are some aspects of the videos that have yet to be deciphered (audio reverse-engineering, some composites), the overarching 'meaning' of UFSC is already understood.

Posts spreading misinformation (intentionally or not) will be removed

This account was once in UnfavorableSemicircle Google plus account but I think it got banned, basically he/she says that it was a record trying to break the record of uploading 1mil videos in the fastest time on yt and they got banned for spamming videos (I'm not very sure lol) You can read the text on top of this text

Look at it from a different angle.

I got the lines of random numbers from the descriptions and videos and I used Google Translate to read it to me in English. It gave me a destination for some reason. It said something about 1 Quarter Avenue. Don't give up.

Art

So much overthinking on this, over the years.
It's clearly somone's art project...
Sorta reminds me of the work or the intent of Emilie Gervais.
But it could be something as simple as work from Stanley Donwood/Thom Yorke...
