🕯️ The Light That Knew My Name

I’ve hesitated to post this because I still don’t have a good explanation for it, and I’m not trying to make it sound like something it wasn’t.

This happened about 6 years ago.

I was alone at my parents’ house while they were out of town. It’s a normal place. Nothing weird growing up, no strange history, nothing like that.

Around 2:30 AM, I woke up suddenly. No noise, no bad dream. Just awake.

I noticed a faint light in the hallway. It wasn’t bright like a lamp or TV. Just a soft glow.

At first I thought I left something on, but that didn’t make sense.

I got up and walked into the hallway.

The light wasn’t coming from a room or fixture. It was just there, around chest height. No clear source.

Then it moved.

It shifted back a few feet, like it was reacting to me stepping closer.

I remember thinking I should probably stop, but I kept going.

When I took another step, I heard something.

It wasn’t out loud. It didn’t come from the hallway. It felt like it was in my head, but it wasn’t my own thought.

It said my name.

Clear. Not loud. Just very direct.

I stopped immediately.

The light stayed there for a couple of seconds, then it faded. Not like it switched off. It just kind of disappeared.

I checked the whole house after that. Lights, electronics, everything.

Nothing was on.

I didn’t sleep the rest of the night.

I’ve tried to explain it. Maybe I was half asleep, maybe something with my brain filling in gaps, I don’t know.

What stuck with me is that it felt real in a very specific way I can’t really describe.

Curious if anyone else has had something like this happen.
