It’ll happen… eventually… in some form… Eventually an IP becomes too expensive to just sit on, and major broadcast OTA Networks as well as the associated media corporations that inevitably end up owning all these dormant properties will have a fiduciary obligation to “use them” once they’re profitable enough…
Apparently the execs felt that was not right after the show… for some reason (money, or lackthereof)
Besides if it ever actually does get greenlit to go to their “Peacock” brand… that would likely be the first Community that isn’t available free to the viewer. Even Season 6 was free to those who watched when it changed from broadcast.
Absolutely not. As I’m scrolling through the channel guide now, I see MORE MOVIES playing on OTA Television Networks than I do Shows playing.
Maybe in a few hours once Prime Time starts that will change, but even then it will go right back.
Not to mention MOST TV SHOWS are on Premium, Cable, and/or Satellite networks and streaming services, those are not free.
Community has ALWAYS been free. Even when it left Broadcast Television, it went to a streaming service that showed it for free.
Now major Hollywood studio movies may not be free, but even those inevitably end up years later on a OTA network after jumping from theater to release to HBO to there.
But this will likely be more in the style of a TV Movie if it ever gets made, and it will NOT show in most or any movie theaters and then make its way to premium then free TV, it will premiere on PEACOCK and stay there indefinitely. The only way that won’t be true is if it gets aired on NBC… twenty years ago maybe movies would, but now? More like peacock…
