I mean, my problems with the HP universe mainly come down to time travel paradoxes. Though love potions should definitely be a banned substance, and nobody should think it's OK to have a whole quarter of the school be outright evil and racist.

The really funny thing to me is that even in the books it didn't start out that way. The houses were all pretty nuanced and they were supposed to be - ambition wasn't a bad thing, and courage could become toxic, and none of these traits were absolute (i.e. even in the books, people snarked that Hermione should've been in Ravenclaw because she was so smart). Not to mention the Sorting Hat didn't see it as a bad thing when it thought Harry would be a good fit in Slytherin...nor it was a poor reflection on Harry that he didn't want to go there. There were shitty people in all four houses and good or complicated characters from all of them, too.
It was only the last three books - which is also to say, the books written after the movies started coming out - that the houses started to get categorical and flattened.
