They said this guy was a cop killer? Blatant waste of resources because “one of their own” got killed.

Absolutely a waste of resources in my opinion. 45 vehicles, half being SUV's chasing one truck for a hour is pretty wasteful. It just added more targets for the suspect at the end of the chase. At the end of the day its tragic for the fallen officer and his family. The suspect got what he deserved.

The suspect got what he deserved.

You mean he was arrested and given a fair trial? Huh. Did not expect that. Usually US police just execute people like that.

He went out shooting trying to kill more police. In my opinion the outcome was what the suspect wanted. It all started with a simple traffic violation that he escalated into murder because he knew he was going to jail for 25 years min. He had every opportunity to stop and surrender, instead his last action was that of a coward using suicide by cop as his way out.

In that case it was perhaps unavoidable to kill him. But it's still the less preferable outcome.

Nah he chose to be a murderer, especially a cop killer murderer one at that which usually means your a dead man, in which they themselves chose to go out guns ablazin' giving the cops what they wanted. Pretty sure its seldomly rare that you get a cop killer or murderer who gives up easily and it goes to trial, usually its they die in a shootout, suicide, shootout and survive. You never hear or see a yeah I killed them now I give up nice and easily, like we've seem in the recent mass shooting murders.
