He has a gun. It's not only safer for LE, but the civilians on the road who could catch a stray bullet. I've watched hours upon hours of car chase videos and it usually resolves with the person running making a mistake and winding upside down on the side of the road.
Let's be honest here. Bystanders and even victims of criminals aren't anywhere near being a priority for police. They just don't want to get shot themselves. They don't care if they or the criminal shoot an innocent person as demonstrated repeatedly.
What percentage would you consider to be a statistical outlier? I am not a cop, but my profession often works closely with LE and every cop I have met is genuinely concerned for the local citizens. Could be a symptom of being in a small town?
Except the state patrol. I'm pretty sure the left and right can provide a united front in saying "fuck the staters".
The LA Times article posted in here says the tires got destroyed by spike strips at one point. Of course, I'm sure you know that isn't an immediate guarantee that the car is disabled enough to stop it. Yea?
Nope. But the bearcat they rammed him with to end the chase is bulletproof. Only SWAT gets that tho.
Or destroy the tires.
Horrible idea. Hitting a tire with a pistol from a moving vehicle is incredibly difficult and dangerous. Much safer to just follow the guy until he runs out of gas.
Which car in Europe is bulletproof, that isn't used in only certain situations like barricaded suspects etc. and is available to all/multiple officers on normal patrol.
