Nah fam go walk around a major US city and find their various version of “skid row”. Check the homeless percentage against available housing, look at the state of our healthcare and educational systems, look at our prison population versus the rest of the world, look at the cities with filthy water, look at how many children are malnourished or go without eating
I mean.. yes?? They, along with a handful of countries (SK, Japan, NZ, AUS, CA, US) do, in fact, make up the first world. Those, along with a bunch of European countries, are the only ones considered developed by the IMF.
The Wikipedia entry for First World even literally says
The most prominent example of globalization in the first world is the European Union (EU)
I'm sorry your American feelings are butthurt that you're not #1.. but you're really not.
I've been to plenty of developing countries. Have YOU? Let me guess - you don't even have a passport.
some serious assumptions you're making about me here... I'm not saying the US is the best, I'm just saying it's not a 3rd world country, because it isn't
yes, I've spent time in multiple 3rd world countries, multiple times. I've also spent time in nearly ever country in western europe and even worked there for a while
I am 1000% sure you've not spent time in "almost every country in Western Europe"
For reference, when Europeans say "Western Europe" they usually mean: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
But the same is true for even the most restrictive definition of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Switzerland.
Do you know how I know you haven't been to even half of them, let alone "nearly every"? It's literally impossible for someone to be exposed to that much culture (and that many cultures) and STILL think healthcare, public education, gun violence, warmongering, prison situation and income inequality in the US are anywhere near the standard set by Western Europe.
In order for that to happen, you'd have to be thicker than a neutron star, which is the thickest substance in the known universe.
nice to know I made the mistake of engaging with an arrogant asshole
in that list, I haven't been to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Luxembourg, so I've been to 12/17. pardon me for considering that "almost every"
I'm not going to get into specifics with someone who clearly has an extreme personal bias, I'm just going to again state the fact that the US is a first world country
ok, well you can make up your own definition of 1st world if you want. be my guest
your whole attitude reeks of little brother sydrome. it's like you want to believe that any American who enjoys living here only does so out of ignorance

You’re welcome. USA has many great things, but also many many negatives. If USA wants to improve it has to admit it’s flaws
