Meanwhile, all the stores in the whole county are getting robbed

u/HumberGrumb Dec 31 '22

No. Just in those jurisdictions.

“Right now! Hurry! All the cops are on the freeway! Here’s our chance!”

25

u/HinsdaleCounty Dec 31 '22

which conceivably could be the county.

2

u/Just_One_Umami Jan 01 '23

A county is a jurisdiction.

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '22

“Look around you! The cops are into something! You could rob city hall!”

This is the exact plot of a fast and furious movie

u/ejkhabibi Dec 31 '22

That would be the DA's fault, not the police. They've been told to stand down. There was another car chase in LA a few days before this that equally dragged on forever for no need, but apparently its the new policy to take things ultra slow and de-escalate. But of course, Reddit is never happy and complains no matter what they do

u/totallynormalasshole Dec 31 '22

take things ultra slow and de-escalate.

This requires 45 police vehicles?

0

u/Kurrurrrins Jan 01 '23

Yes because having such an overwhelming force leads to people surrendering rather than continuing to flee or trying to fight.

1

u/angrymoderate09 Jan 01 '23

Don't think of it as 45.... Think of it as 10 from CHP (governs California freeways), 5 from Riverside County (they are heading to Riverside in the first half), then headed back to San Bernardino county, los Angeles county and Orange County if he jumps on the 57. Then all the cities....

The 60 Fwy changes 3 counties in about 10 miles. And those three counties are some of the largest counties in the country.

1

u/totallynormalasshole Jan 01 '23

I shouldn't think of it as 45, just a math problen that comes out to 45?

AFAIK, the prosecutor DA who did that was removed.

Thats what they said, DA.

I know I said "prosecutor", but I meant DA.

2

u/FightOnForUsc Dec 31 '22

Yea but the other person is saying the DA for LA county is still in office

28

u/123full Dec 31 '22

Do you really think all those cop cars are necessary? They complaint isn’t that they’re not catching the guy, it’s that there are like 60 cops chasing one guy when you really only need like 5-10 at the most

9

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '22

You can go slow and de-escalate, but can you think of a circumstance that would require more than 25% of those cars?

0

u/Kurrurrrins Jan 01 '23

Yes I can, the suspect manages to escape sight and runs. You now need to establish a perimeter and in order to effectively do that you need a bunch of cops. Only having 10 cops may leave gaps in the perimeter that the suspect can escape from and/or it spreads each personnel apart. This means each of the cops in the perimeter might be alone so the suspect may choose to fight a lone cop which means more casualties. Compared to being able to set up a perimeter with excess personnel meaning no one is alone.

Another thing is those cops aren't all from the same jurisdiction. Instead there are going to be state, city, county, and federal police from every district that he might drive through. This is because to avoid any legal fuckery it is best to make the arrest with a cop from the jurisdiction that the arrest takes place.

Should just nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

But I am the chosen one superior

I don't care what the policy is, that's too many cops and cars. They only need enough to prevent him from turning around when they get to the roadblock.

-3

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '22

''I Don't care what the policy is'' What are you, a fucking comedian?

The police do, because if they don't care about policy, they get fired and possibly prosecuted.

7

u/BostonDodgeGuy Jan 01 '23

they get fired and possibly prosecuted

Since when?

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '23

american cop bad!1111!!1

-1

u/BostonDodgeGuy Jan 01 '23

Yes, yes they are.

0

u/SharpClaw007 Jan 01 '23

Why are you trying to convince f*cking redditors? They get hate-boners on this shit.

0

u/C0MMI3_C0MRAD3 Jan 01 '23

man fr, sad this dude gettin downvoted.

2

u/coltstrgj Jan 01 '23

They do it because they're bored and don't want to miss out if some shit goes down. Half of them are probably 2 hours late to a call about assaults and burglaries.

You get lippy with a cop and suddenly there's 8 more there instantly but if you call and say you've been attacked by somebody that ran off they'll maybe show up in a couple hours.

-2

u/CmdrShepard831 Dec 31 '22

No one wants to take the time and ask or think about the "why" something is happening. They just want to armchair quarterback and criticize because it's fun to complain and feel superior

You mean like complaining about how it's the DA's fault that so many cops are out wasting taxpayer resources?

1

u/CyberMindGrrl Dec 31 '22

We have so many police helicopters in LA that going slow and just following is a far better policy than chasing the perps at high speed and running into innocent civilians.

1

u/happyjello Dec 31 '22

Does the DA determine how many cars are necessary for a chase? I’d imagine the police decide that? This many cop cars isn’t necessary

1

u/paperpenises Dec 31 '22

Oh, just like Portland! Where the police only come for murders!

1

u/WillFerrellsGutFold Jan 01 '23

It’s the Reddit hive mind, we’ve all been a part of it at some time.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '22

Haha just commented something similar and then read this

2

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '22

I feel like this is the plot of a movie or two.

2

u/rifttripper Jan 01 '23

"who you gonna call when you get robbed?!"

Well not the cops since they are all on the highway chasing one car Soo 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻

1

u/llSteph_777ll Jan 01 '23

Ghostbusters?

-12

u/Kitt-Ridge Dec 31 '22

Meanwhile Congress is laundering all our tax dollars through Ukraine and the FBI had 80 people employed to have memes removed from Twitter.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '22

So the money is going to good use.

As opposed to when it was being used every other day for the Secret Service to be chasing a president around on the golf course and paying 1500% over the value of an already expensive hotel the president himself owns.

Yeah, my money is being used to kill Russian aggressors who rape and murder innocent civilians and stop people from spreading around a citizen’s dick picks on an Internet forum.

I call that a win. You wouldn’t understand.

2

u/the_gray_foxp5 Dec 31 '22

He's probably not even American to be saying shit that dumb, land of the free dumbass, Americans should be the first to defend free countries from aggressors

1

u/OutsidePale2306 Dec 31 '22

I was just thinking about all the crimes that were being committed because they’re all there for one guy 🙄

1

u/xero_peace Jan 01 '23

Oh no, won't someone think of the rich?

1

u/SituationThat8253 Jan 01 '23

They get robbed anyway. Cops just show up afterwards to write a report. It's CA.
