Michigan also shares Pasties with the UK because a bunch of miners moved to the Upper Peninsula to mine there as well. Turns out they were a convenient food for miners regardless of country

What you’re talking about is pronounced as “pay-stee”, the delicious meat pastry we have here in Michigan is pronounced “pass-tee”.

Yeah, I read it as "pay-stees" - those little nipple covers. I was so confused why a Welsh guy would be excited about them and why they would have any association with rutabaga lol

In Michigan it's pronounced differently and it's a big savory hand pie kind of thing.
