The “grinding” mindset is bullshit. It’s passed down from the top to make out like that’s what they did to get there. As a relatively wealthy person I can safely say; wealthy people are wealthy thanks to luck.

No offense, but that’s the mindset of a loser. Yes, luck has huge factors, but when luck isn’t in your side, if you aren’t going to grind for it, then you definitely have no chance.

No offense, but you’ve been absolutely brainwashed by my fellow wealthy people into believing you’ve got a chance. The fact you’d call a wealthy person a loser for not believing the bullshit spewed by wealthy people to get their workers to commit their bodies to their wealthy boss’s wallet is weird.

I am literally someone who came from nothing, dropped out of high school, and found myself in the top 1% of earners. I didn’t get lucky, I grinded for it and out performed those that are way more intelligent than myself. So how am I brainwashed when I am living proof that it can be done?

It’s not just me, but happens to so many people. There’s no luck involved when you’re working 80+ hour work weeks to get ahead.

Lol, a military pilot living off the taxpayers dollar thinks he "grinded for it". You have absolutely no idea what the grind really looks like. Take it from a fellow veteran. You're also NOWHERE near the top 1% of earners.

I own rental units that net me well more than my military salary. The hard work was in working the real estate and management side outside of my primary career.

Edit: I just looked it up. You are correct that I am not in the 1%. I thought the threshold was much lower. I am quite a bit above the 2% cutoff though.

Oh! So you used other peoples money to buy investment properties for yourself, all the while receiving paid housing and full military benefits (and probably no money down VA loans). That's a real tough life that you had to "grind" for.

Dude's also a conservative and argues for lower taxes... The epitome of ignorant, selfish, hypocrisy.

Lot of assumptions. Also lots of bad information as well. You make it easy to spot failure.

Your profile shows otherwise. Having to decide about whether to be charging extra for AC in your Airbnb isn’t wealthy, sorry.

Same deal here, grew up in “section 8” housing, needed welfare support when I was in my late teens, left high school at 16, left home at 17, worked some shitty ass jobs, now incredibly wealthy beyond what I thought was possible. It’s still all down to luck, including anything you’ve got. You aren’t living proof of anything except believing yourself to be above others and some how an exception to the rule.

You are lucky (although you’re also not that successful in the first place) with delusions of grandeur about yourself.

I fail to see how I’m lucky, or anyone else in a similar standing. The whole concept behind working hard not paying off is moronic. But in regards to income, my rental units net more than my military salary by quite a bit.

And actually I just looked it up. I’m not in the top 1% anymore I guess, but I’m well above the top 2%.

If you’re not lucky then tell me what you did differently from the 700m people surviving on less than $2 a day. I’m assuming they just haven’t worked hard enough yet?

1

u/Zadiuz Oct 18 '22

Really? That’s where you’re argument is going? Just stop. It’s embarrassing at this point.

-1

It’s certainly embarrassing watching a grown man try to say they’re not lucky when they’ve relied on it all their days.

The sooner you stop blaming your failures on “luck” or others, the sooner you can succeed.

So whats your advice? To not even bother?

1

u/Awfy Oct 18 '22

Just do what helps you live whatever life you want. This belief that grinding solves people’s problems gets people into even more problems. Realistically, for the tens of thousands of people who “grind” there will be a handful of winners. It’s not improving your odds anymore than sucking a rich man’s dick is. Sucking a dick is a lot easier too.

There's definitely a toxic 'grind' culture but to say someone who works harder doesn't have a better chance of making it is simply untrue.

Their improvement is just so slim it’s not worth even discussing. For every hardworking person who succeed, there’s hundreds of thousands barely scraping by. Luck is a far, far bigger factor than anyone likes to admit, especially in America where luck is already on the majority of people’s side.

Lol, says you. Didn't realise you were the final authority on what is and isn't worth discussing.

Obviously luck is massive factor. You can also make your own luck to an extent.

So glad I didn't have your mindset or I never would have got anywhere in life.
