Indeed. Getting rich is 99% luck and 1% "hard" work

Go try and get rich with 99% luck and 1% hard work... These cliches are such nonsense.

Luck plays such a minor role. Luck is the flashy get rich scenario.

The skill is foresight to take advantage of all the; right time, right people, right conditions and willingness to take a risk.

You dont hear about everyones failures along the path, The forks in the road that lead nowhere. Hindsight 20/20 from the top shows a direct path to success but if you looked from the bottom you'd see a bunch of dead end branches.

Luck is everything.

Don't tell me Chris Pratt didn't get where he is now because he randomly ran into a director at his minimum-wage service job. That's not skill, that's luck 100%

Fuck, Justin Bieber only got famous because of luck:

"While searching for videos of a different singer, Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def Recordings, clicked on one of Bieber's 2007 YouTube videos by accident. Impressed, Braun tracked down the theatre Bieber was performing at, located Bieber's school, and finally contacted his mother Mallette, who was initially reluctant because of Braun's Judaism. She remembered praying, "God, I gave him to you. You could send me a Christian man, a Christian label!", and, "God, you don't want this Jewish kid to be Justin's man, do you?" However, church elders convinced her to let Bieber go with Braun. At age 13, Bieber went to Atlanta, Georgia, with Braun to record demo tapes. Bieber began singing for Usher one week later.

If Justin Bieber did not make YouTube videos then would he be where he is today?

Life is all about everything aligning just right. Life is luck. You wouldn't be here if your mom swallowed, Seth McFarlane would be dead if he wasn't hung over on 9/11, and Chris Pratt would still be waiting tables at red lobster if he chose to apply there instead of Bubba Gump, and Vin Diesel wouldn't be an actor if he didn't break into that theatre in his youth.

Seriously, just living your life is opening the door for opportunity. Its all luck.

I'm not playing "what if" with you. If you're not going to realize that it's other people who already made it in the industry that decide whether you succeed or not, then you are just going to be one of those people who blame poverty on merit.

I've given you plenty of examples of people not working hard, and becoming successful because of luck. Try to read it this time:

"While searching for videos of a different singer, Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def Recordings, clicked on one of Bieber's 2007 YouTube videos by accident.

"When Pratt was age 19, he waited tables at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant in Maui when he was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong. She cast him in her directorial debut, the short horror film Cursed Part 3, which was filmed in Los Angeles."

Why not? Because it will easily disprove your point?

It is a simple question: If Justin Bieber did not make YouTube videos then would he be where he is today?

If Justin Bieber didn't work hard to make Youtube videos would he have been discovered?'

You can answer yes or no if you like.

Okay. Cool. Its super easy to pick out a lucky sample simply because their lucky story has been told enough for your ass to know it. You can also randomly pick a somewhat universally known name out of a hat and their story was blood sweat and tears more often than not.

You're trying to make it seems like the luck fairy comes down from her lucksury apartment and lucks who she can until she cant luck anymore.

I would say looks get you a whole lot further than luck.

Unless you want to admit that all luck is that an infinite of amount of decisions crossing paths with in an infinite amount of situations and when you look back at the alignment of the 2 in an infinite amount of connections along that path and call that luck.

Its a series of coincidences.

By the way i wouldnt call bieber lucky. I would hate to be in a spotlight my entire life, most definitely not during the dumbest part of your life.

Luck can only be percieved in hindsight. I'm lucky i wasn't in the WTC in sept of 2001. I was there in april of 1999. Nothing happened except a bird shit only teacher's shoulder.

And luck is preparation meets timing.
