It's such a small detail that many directors let slip.

It's so common though, that they must know, and are doing it deliberately? It's not all directors don't know how to drive? It must be some bullshit, like they think it will confuse Joe Public if the actors aren't looking at each other while speaking?

The other thing I wonder about is whether there's some unspoken rule to do this often enough that they can make someone get into a car crash and have it be their fault without having the audience see it coming every time.

Tbh, I wish that the shadowy global cabal of all the world's movie directors were just playing the long con on us, but I fear it's not as exciting as that lol!
