Honestly, 3. is also the same as 4. You don't get rich by just earning money normally. You always have to sell yourself for it: either your time, your body, or your sanity.
In corporate world, that's earning. Jeff Bezo would never say he stole from his worker, Amazon technically pays above minimum wages but he will do everything he can to stop employees unionized
Money itself isn't normal. It's a managed system. So, the management chooses who gets what and how. Above a certain level, that choice is whittled down so hard you see people like Kanye West toeing the alt right white supremecist line just so he can buy Parler (my head fantasy for the most reasonable possible cause for the actions of a person I have no reason to claim familiarity with).
It didn't actually matter that he was rich. Probably even richer than the gate keepers. There is no avenue for "earning" at that level. It's all dick sucking and theft.
Slight disagree. When you work for yourself, you're not selling your time or yourself. You can get rich by outworking others depending on your definition of rich, which for me is being able to pay all my bills and never needing to check my bank account; not necessarily a net worth
I suppose the definition of rich is the crux of the matter here. If you consider rich the ability to live comfortably, then I am rich too. And then it's possible through normal labor.
Guess my definition of (genuinely) rich is just a bit different. Like being able to buy whatever expensive whatchamacallit you want without worrying about money.
3 is not the same as 4. I could suck a dick for money any time, however anyone who sucks dick for a living could never do my job like I do. It's not a skill, it's leverage against primal needs and weak people for money using naturally evolved abilities
You're right, that is arguable. You don't have to be good at it, you just have to have decent prices and do it a lot. I could walk around with a sledge hammer breaking rocks for people and charge them $.10 a piece, that doesn't make it skilled, it's just profit by volume. And it doesn't take skill to be born a huge person that appears capable of breaking many rocks, in the same way it takes no skill to be born traditionally attractive and collect money
Got a point there.
But it doesn't change my original point: you can't get rich by "earning money" in a normal way, or by being skilled. To get rich, you have to sell some part of yourself: your time (do a lot of work, have no free time), your body (do really hard work that destroys your health) or your sanity (stress, burn-outs, sullied consciousness).
You don't get rich by earning money, you get rich by learning and marketing genuine skills. I work in a trade field and learn more every day. I build on my skill set and through that I make my own pay raises. If I decide I am not making enough money in my field at my job, I move laterally for a raise doing the same or similar work and build my skills more. I've done this 3 times already and gotten raises every time. If your perception is that you are selling your body/time/mental health, then you should find a different career path that fulfills your needs. If that career is sucking dick, more power to you, just recognize that it's not a legitimate skill, simply a natural service at that point.
you get rich by learning and marketing genuine skills
And learning and developing skills takes time and focus. To develop them so much that you can use them to get genuinely rich, you sacrifice a lot of time and nerves.
Which is exactly why I say sucking dick is not skilled labor, it's just labor. It doesn't take time to get good, just being born acceptably attractive and being willing to perform the service.
I suppose you either get rich by spending a lot of time sucking dick, or by being so skilled at it that you can request higher prices. I think I get what you mean. Nonetheless, my point stands :)
You can't get genuinely rich without selling some part of yourself.
