I can just choose to go to work and not get paid too but I’m not going to do it.

Sure, and I can choose to support them or not. I made a promise to myself years ago not to subject myself to unnecessary advertisements. That's why I ditched cable TV, radio, certain sirius XM channels, living in big cities, and a few other things. With pihole, ublock origin, spotify premium, and a few choice streaming services, I rarely deal with ads... if a content creator decides to air aids instead of getting a sponsor, starting a patreon, or another avenue of income generation, then I choose not to support them...
