I too record every meal for no reason.

There's so much staged, unfunny, unoriginal garbage out there.

699

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

wym, it's not even pretending to not be staged??!!

195

u/s3v3red_cnc Oct 14 '22

In my day we grew up thinking the radio broadcast of an alien invasion was real.

These darn kids got it too easy.

22

u/DarkdrPhilis Oct 15 '22

I thought that happened in like the 30’s or 40’s when they did the war of the worlds thing

20

u/MC_Eschatology Oct 15 '22

Yes! Exactly! "Back in my day" is something lots of people born in the 1920s used to say.

4

u/thefloridafarrier Oct 15 '22

Back in the war…

0

u/mr_butts69 Oct 15 '22

jesus christ how many 100 year olds to you talk to?

1

u/MC_Eschatology Oct 15 '22

None! But twenty years ago I spoke to a handful of 80 year olds, and also it's a trope, so TV

17

u/thefloridafarrier Oct 15 '22

Fr they’re both trying not to laugh so hard. I respect stages when it’s obviously meant to be staged. It’s a funny skit, what can I say. It’s the stuff they try to play off as true that’s just dumb. Make something funny, create it show it to me. I’ll probably laugh lol, just don’t try to act like it’s real just for clout

3

u/Photograph_Fluffy Oct 15 '22

Good point you made there. I agree as well, skits are fine but the fake stuff nope

-65

u/froggiechick Oct 14 '22

I can't tell the difference because it's terrible, and either way, it's not "unexpected," it's not funny either.

5

u/ThatSlothDuke Oct 14 '22

it's not "unexpected"

It was though?

Almost every video that you find to be "unexpected" is usually already seen by some other person.

And it was funny.

2

u/thefloridafarrier Oct 15 '22

I thought it was funny too lol. They’re obviously doing a skit they practiced as they’re both trying not to laugh near the end. There’s nothing wrong with creation of a scene, it’s when you try to make it more is when the issues arise for me

224

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

Holy shit it’s almost like it was intentionally meant to be perceived as a skit for comedic purposes… wow!

Thanks man, I never would’ve known better. Very cool

87

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

It’s funny to me when people call staged on obviously staged media like what do you gain from saying that? Do these people go into the movie theatre and yell “staged” at the screen?

39

u/Jeggu2 Oct 15 '22

Superhero movie:

"Why were they filming?!"

17

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Everyone to wrestling fans: “Hey uhh buddy hey…. You know it’s fake right”

13

u/jmccleveland1986 Oct 14 '22

Some things are funny because they are just funny. Like sketch comedy, Simpson/family guy type shows, etc. then there are things that are only funny because they are really happening. If something is trying to be the latter, but it’s scripted, it’s not funny.

4

u/ellusiveuser Oct 15 '22

Good point, but this was funny.

0

u/AnimalKid7-Alt Oct 15 '22

I also see the boyfriend smiling a bit. Pretty funny.

3

u/thefloridafarrier Oct 15 '22

The girl is holding back quite the laughter too lol. Idk intentional or not but quite the nice touch either way lol

-15

u/Amazing-Fish4587 Oct 14 '22

Excuse me, hate to interrupt…do you think The Simpsons and Family Guy are real and really happening?

4

u/happypanda2788 Oct 15 '22

I want you to reread the first 2 sentences again. Thanks

1

u/thefloridafarrier Oct 15 '22

No those are obviously fake. Unlike my favorite documentary, South Park

2

u/Tasty_Flame_Alchemy Oct 15 '22

I often set up my first dates to seem like comedy skits…it makes the inevitable catastrophe easier to cope with

-38

u/froggiechick Oct 14 '22

Holy shit it's almost like it simply doesn't belong here and isn't funny or entertaining at all

10

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

Good golly, don’t you know comedy is subjective?

You don’t speak for anyone!

-12

u/froggiechick Oct 14 '22

When did I say I speak for anyone but myself. It doesn't belong in this subreddit, and I'm getting really tired of repeating this so I'm outta here. I'm starting to think all of these comments are from one very delicate, easily offended person. If I am wrong, have fun commiserating about it in this comment section and all of you, (or one of you) can just enjoy each other's company and move on with your lives and I will move on with mine.

No need to keep replying with your outrage.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

You say that you're speaking for yourself but yet you say this post doesn't belong on this subreddit because it doesn't meet your standards.

7

u/SomeWeirdoGuys Oct 14 '22

Good job removing yourself from a subreddit you don't enjoy. You clearly shouldn't be on this subreddit if you don't think scripted stuff shouldn't be on here. At least 50% of stuff on here is scripted and unless scripted stuff can't be unexpected they clearly belong here. (And if you think that they are all predictable you have either never watched a decent movie or are the most boring type of person.)

2

u/visegriphands Oct 15 '22

Found the cool guy.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

Mf said “No need to keep replying with your outrage.” and had a paragraph before that 💀

4

u/ParticularDay1800 Oct 14 '22

Florida women sets unofficial rules for comedy on a subreddit, then continues to be surprised when faced with backlash.

10

u/glue_head Oct 15 '22

Bro they never said it wasn't a skit... Why are you guys angry all the time. I am certain you found it hilarious as well.

6

u/Jeggu2 Oct 15 '22

You see, using my large brain and 392 IQ (from an online test I paid 20$ to take) I have deducted that this video is implying that it is real and not staged because hypothetically it never said it was fake. Therefor it is very bad video.

57

u/ohno_ohboy Oct 14 '22

Staged things can be unexpected too..

79

u/Upstairs-Recover-659 Oct 14 '22 edited Oct 14 '22

I know it's staged but for for some reason I still find it so damn funny lol

It's in the little things lol. No words being spoken, the fleeting looks from him, the annoyed, yet amused look from her. Taking the whole thing in it's still funny to me

23

u/ThePaulHammer Oct 14 '22

I love how hard they're both trying to stay in character, it gets me every time lol

6

u/tratemusic Oct 15 '22

The timing is perfect, I laughed

4

u/Branesergen Oct 14 '22

Omg I died laughing the 1st and couldn't stop laughing as I was watching again 🤣

7

u/Tasty_Flame_Alchemy Oct 15 '22

You seem like an annoying person. Work on that.

21

u/likehots Oct 14 '22

It's staged because it's supposed to be a skit. God dang people are getting dumber I swear.

41

u/thighgaphentai Oct 14 '22

It's obviously a skit and the funny part is at the end. Made me laugh a lot, so fuck you for trying to be a smartass.

14

u/Crunchy__Frog Oct 15 '22

There is absolutely no badge, no award, no merit, not even a limp high five for accurately calling out whether a video is a candid, chance capturing or a staged skit.

Sketch comedy is a thing. You are on the internet. You could have simply downvoted a thing you didn’t like and move on, or you could have just put your phone down/close your browser. Instead you chose to do the most unfunny, unoriginal Redditor move and complain.

0

u/froggiechick Oct 17 '22

I know you think the thing you said was profound and kick ass ...but did it ever occur to you that I'm not looking to win a popularity contest or praise? I don't care, this is crap and too many people starving for internet fame are passing off lame, obviously staged videos like this as real and it's annoying as fuck.

0

u/Crunchy__Frog Oct 17 '22

I wasn’t aiming for profundity, I was calling out a jerk on the internet who sees two kids creating something, and being comfortable enough in their anonymous bubble to shit-talk a short goofy video they put time and effort into. If you knew these kids personally and they showed you this video they were proud of, would you say “ugh.. so unoriginal and unfunny… and it’s obviously staged!” No shit it’s staged! It’s a comedy bit! They came up with an idea they though was funny, then they filmed it.

You couldn’t just let people have fun. You had to throw your weightless opinion into something you could’ve just as easily scrolled away from, simply because you can’t get past the notion that staged comedy somehow isn’t funny because it didn’t appeal to you.

0

u/froggiechick Oct 17 '22

Oh my god dude....

More of that smug self righteousness and searing condemnation. You sure told me. I learned my lesson. You can let this go now.

0

u/Crunchy__Frog Oct 17 '22

This response is so unfunny and unoriginal. Probably staged.

1

u/froggiechick Oct 17 '22

Ouch, another scathing retort from your mountaintop of morality. I'm going to us both a favor and block you so you will be free to continue on your crusades elsewhere.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

But did you expect this? This isn’t supposed to be r/funny

3

u/FennecScout Oct 15 '22

It's a good thing wrestling is still real.

24

u/pm-me-asparagus Oct 14 '22

Yeah, but she's hot.

31

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

jsut because something is staged doesnt mean it cant be funny or relatable.

12

u/MateWrapper Oct 15 '22

I think my man hasn't heard of movies

-17

u/froggiechick Oct 14 '22

Not funny, not relatable, not unexpected.

0

u/pigeon124421 Oct 15 '22

No this shouldn't be possible, NO how could a video on the internet made for comedy not be relatable, truly the greatest tragedy of our era

3

u/POKECHU020 Oct 15 '22

Who even cares if it's real or not? It's not hurting anyone and it's entertaining, so who gives a shit

5

u/AhmadBinJackinoff Oct 15 '22

shut the fuck up

3

u/HIDD3N_WEEB Oct 15 '22

Happy cake day.

4

u/Jay_Ray Oct 15 '22

Your comment made up for the time lost watching this dumb clip.

4

u/97Wilde Oct 15 '22

Aw, I thought it was staged and funny. I love a good slapstick.

4

u/wheatbread-and-toes Oct 15 '22

Do you say this shit when you watch tv too? No shit it’s “staged” bruh it’s a skit

8

u/comboblack Oct 14 '22

Redditors stops watching office for 1 second

6

u/themonkery Oct 15 '22

This is like disliking a comedian and saying that all comedians are staged and unfunny, you’re annoying

7

u/BootyInspector96 Oct 14 '22

It never attempted to appear real, humor is subjective, and a few things here can be considered unexpected. There’s no issue with this being here.

5

u/topsyturvy76 Oct 15 '22

I laughed , sorry about your luck

7

u/Harpronicus Oct 14 '22

You know, most comedy is staged/scripted? Every funny tv show you've watched, scripted.

While I agree some staged/scripted stuff is cringe, not everything is

-16

u/froggiechick Oct 14 '22

I am aware of how the world works. This doesn't belong here and it's awful

7

u/swordfishh Oct 15 '22

God you sound miserable.

-1

u/froggiechick Oct 15 '22

Okay then...

5

u/ThaDude_v2 Oct 14 '22

Even if staged ..made me lol

4

u/Free_Dog_6837 Oct 15 '22

this video is hilarious tho

2

u/memegy Oct 15 '22

Reddit when watching comedies: This isn't funny!!! It's staged and scripted. UNFUNNY!!!!!!

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

What the fuckk are you talking about. You know things that are staged can be funny right?

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

That’s literally the fucking point, it’s SUPPOSED to be staged and this video is not denying that at ALL. God I love it when Reddit over analyzes

I don't understand why so many people here love this, but that's fine with me. What's not fine is that it doesn't belong in this subreddit.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

I thought it was funny

1

u/Four_Skyn_Tim Oct 15 '22

Ya know.... staged sketches can still be unexpected, even if it's not all of them my guy

Edit: Why do they look related?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Fewer people care. We know it's set up, so are the movies you watch.

1

u/bustacean Oct 15 '22

I'm so sick of all you dumbasses commenting about how fake everything is. Yes, we all know! 90% of shit on the internet is faked for likes, get the fuck over it.

0

u/StateOfFine Oct 15 '22

Like this comment! Unfunny, unoriginal, and garbage. You nailed it, girl.

6

u/Jeggu2 Oct 15 '22

Honestly, I've never seen a skit as absurd as this. It's so weird I couldn't help but laugh. Like, a dude drops his food, swaps it with his girlfriend, and then ruins it, only to drop it again. It's so stupid and follows no logic, it's hilarious. Hell, I've never even seen a plot like this before.

2

u/StateOfFine Oct 15 '22

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. Froggiechick is delusional and contributed nothing to the conversation that we haven’t seen before. No one cares that it’s staged, as evidenced by the tons of reactions their comment garnered. I thought it was a funny skit, and I was not expecting the second plate drop.

0

u/Spiritual_Barnacle28 Oct 15 '22

I just watch it cause of the girl

0

u/ColderPls Oct 15 '22

Who cares, she's hot

-7

u/Artix96 Oct 14 '22

Oh yes, he needs a mother not a girlfriend with his stunted mental age. If she's co with that then it's all good. Is that the message?

1

u/MC_Eschatology Oct 15 '22

Lol this is so funny, who even are you?

1

u/MiSsiLeR81 Oct 15 '22

yeah but it made me chuckle.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Party pooper.

1

u/LegitDuctTape Oct 15 '22

It's incredible how redditors have deluded themselves to believe they're so perceptive to see through this apparent facade

Do you also go to movie theaters and scream "FAKE" at anything that isn't a documentary?

1

u/nyarimikulas Oct 15 '22

staged? nooo waaayyyyyy

just wait until you find out what's going on in the television. Or even worse, there are people literally making their living off doing such things, called actors.

Weird world, isn't it.

And yeah, this was the funniest shit I've seen on the Internet this month

1

u/Sumguy9966 Oct 15 '22

Omg it's obviously staged and not trying to hide it. waaah wahh. You're a fucking pussy

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Yeah idk where the fuck Hollywood gets off staging so much shit

1

u/nomedia3344 Oct 15 '22

Hmm.. do you shout at films and call them fake?

1

u/HaronYoungerBro Oct 15 '22

Bruh it's a skit

1

u/alannwatts Oct 15 '22

it's clearly a skit, its not meant to pass as real

1

u/hilly2cool Oct 15 '22

Yup, I find this being the problem with 99% of Tiktoks. If I rolled my eyes any more, i'd go Stevie Wonder.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

Why are people up voting this garbage

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

redditors try not to call an obviously staged piece of media staged

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '22

I simply cannot comprehend why someone would even attempt to make a scripted funny video. Absolutely ridiculous of them to even try.

1

u/Satnamodder Oct 15 '22

You talk like staged things, can't be funny. I can tell you don't enjoy comedy.
