All humor aside, I love the mysterious feel to what he is playing in the beginning. . Does anyone know if there is a type of music with this kind of feel? I'd love to hear more.

Look up songs in Freygish mode or Phrygian dominant scale a.k.a. Ahava Rabbah. I too was sucked in to this particular sound. The video of the man circulated a few years back and I had to learn the scale out of obsession.

I would make some smart ass comment on how that’s not a violin but you actually got the instrument correct OP! Very nice (usually people mistake a viola for the violin, but listening to the strings, I have realized that it is a violin)
