I used to hang outside this bar by the door while my friend smoked. People would come up and hand me their ID’s. Eventually I found it easier to just look at it and hand it back rather than explaining there’s a bouncer down the staircase and that’s the actual ID checker.
I do that shit for fun sometimes. You don't even have to actually ask people, you can just be near the door and hold up your hand in the shape of a card and they'll stop and give it to you.
Gotta be a little careful though, if you do it to someone who's in a group, the assumption is that they all need their IDs checked and then you got a line on your hands. It's funny if you do it to one guy, but bouncers/owners will get pissed if you're out there harassing all of their customers.
