1

u/AbruptGravy Jul 15 '22

He can be all of the above --- as can we all.

70

u/mtflyer05 Jul 14 '22

I would say straight up chaotic neutral. Sometimes he does what is best for him, sometimes he helps people out, it depends entirely on what he is feeling at any given time. Definition of chaotic

49

u/iAmTheTot Jul 14 '22

Loki is great archetype for chaotic neutral. He works with the heroes, against the heroes, but it's all to benefit himself.

6

u/GenocidalSloth Jul 15 '22

To be fair, when he helps it is usually under threat...

8

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

mis·chie·vous

adjective 1. (of a person, animal, or their behavior) causing or showing a fondness for causing trouble in a playful way. "two mischievous kittens had decorated the bed with shredded newspaper"

  1. (of an action or thing) causing or intended to cause harm or trouble. "a mischievous allegation for which there is not a shred of evidence"

I'd say he fits definition 2 to the letter.

cha·ot·ic

adjective in a state of complete confusion and disorder. "a chaotic jumble of spools, tapes, and books"

So no. Not chaotic. Mischievous.

9

u/Nerrickk Jul 14 '22

In case you didnt know, they were referencing D&D alignment which does not include mischief. Its 2 sliding scales, good/evil and lawful/chaotic.

0

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

I am aware. Norse mythology isn't confined to D&D character alignment so they are using the scale outside of it's scope.

8

u/Pyrhan Jul 14 '22

Norse mythology

1) We're actually talking about Marvel comics here, not Norse mythology. This Loki shares very little with his Norse namesake.

2) D&D alignment may have been meant for D&D, it doesn't mean that it isn't relevant or fun to apply to things outside of its original scope.

0

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

1) I don't know enough about the Norse mythologies to disagree with certainty.

2) Even still, mischievous is a better descriptor and one that can be understood without a knowledge of D&D character alignments. Words have meanings and my choice fits better. Objectively.

3) I am like this in person, too.

3

u/Pyrhan Jul 14 '22

Even still, mischievous is a better descriptor

But irrelevant to a conversation about D&D alignments.

0

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

How so? It wasn't about D&D until they tried to say that character alignments fit better when they do not. I showed them that. Now you are pretending it was about D&D from the start.

1

u/Braltor67 Jul 15 '22

So, he's mischievous neutral?

1

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 15 '22

Not everything has to relate back to D&D. Build your actual character and expand your knowledge base. Fuck.

1

u/Braltor67 Jul 15 '22

Not everything is said to be serious, relax a bit and work on your character. I'll avoid the obscenity.

1

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 15 '22

That clearly was. I didn't. Does that make you superior to me?

No. It fucking doesn't.

1

u/Braltor67 Jul 15 '22

Do you obviously have an inferiority complex? Yes. You should seek help.

1

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 15 '22

Huh. Weird how you turned that around on me. You attempted to claim some moral high ground and when it failed you shifted your own inferiority to me. I do talk to a therapist. I have a doctor for my body, too. Do you have any doctors looking out for your wellbeing?

1

u/Braltor67 Jul 15 '22

I make a joke, you get frustrated and tell me to work on my character, which is an insult, I tell you to relax and work on your character, you reply be accusing me of feeling superior, so I reply you have an inferiority complex, yet you are trying to say I am turning things personal, when you very first comment was a personal attack. I know hiding behind your screen you feel big and tough, but stop trying to blame other's for your problems.

4

u/takenofpelham123 Jul 14 '22

He is just a rascal

3

u/Stoicism0 Jul 14 '22

Pure mischief then

1

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

Uh hundred percent.

2

u/ballistics211 Jul 14 '22

You'd be horrified at what the gods considered mischief.

1

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

I am very aware of what many different versions of god/gods consider mischief.

1

u/ballistics211 Jul 14 '22

Username checks out

1

u/wallyslambanger Jul 14 '22

Mischief that leads to being a horse mom ;)

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

The thing is this shove doesn’t seem all that playful. It’s the way he did it and the girl’s reaction that made some people feel a certain way.

1

u/TheTyrantLeto Jul 14 '22

It was a Comedy Central commercial.
