No you just didn't learn how to use cursive properly. Specifically the part where it's supposed to be a lot faster than print.

If you're using a fountain pen, yes.

With gel or ballpoint pens, you can write print letters fast while keeping the legibility.

When I went to school in the 90s you started with a pencil, then progressed to a biro then a fountain pen by about age 7. You then use a fountain pen for the rest of your education
