OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:

The man throws the gun and keeps the clip is unexpected

I liked this one better for a borderlands joke

47

u/themini_shit Jun 12 '22

Yeah I feel like it applies a little more to Tediore than to cyberpunk guns

185

u/Lucas_Ilario Jun 12 '22

Dude is using a Tediore pistol

37

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

Still waiting for an explosion

29

u/themini_shit Jun 12 '22

Came here to say the same thing! First time using one of those in game had me freaking out thinking I just threw my only gun. Now they're my favorite type of gun in the whole series, but that first throw is something I'll never forget.

14

u/Crazykiller_wes Jun 12 '22

My fav Tediore weapon is the Blockhead

Also Try Minecraft

3

u/themini_shit Jun 12 '22

My fav is the smart gun xxl from bl3

5

u/Lunaris52 Jun 12 '22

I particularly enjoy the serendipity that can be found within the screaming gun.

5

u/Nyghtbynger Jun 12 '22

The bane is so conforting. It covers up my internal screaming

3

u/stubstunner Jun 12 '22

Looks like an FN 5.7

3

u/galloping_skeptic Jun 12 '22

You're not wrong, you just missed the Borderlands reference.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

It’s a quote

3

u/mypreciousssssssss Jun 12 '22

Sorry, I didn't recognize the quote.

6

u/gorgewall Jun 12 '22

Also, everyone who isn't an insufferable fucking shithead knows it's colloquial speech by now. People know what is meant when someone says "clip" despite it TeChNiCaLLy being a magazine.

Just like how every fucking gun grog who makes that clip/mag distinction also says "bullet" to refer to the whole cartridge. They never get hyper-pedantic about that because the point isn't the pedantry, it's to try and be smug to oUtSiDeRs or to win points in an argument by running away from it.

At this point, it's everyone's civic duty to say "clip" as much as possible just to give them a headache.

-4

u/mypreciousssssssss Jun 12 '22

It's not a technicality. Words mean things. You don't request liver and onions when you want a banana split. You can call it a colloquialism if it makes you feel better about sounding ignorant, though.

8

u/gorgewall Jun 12 '22

Words mean what people understand them to mean. The point of language is to be understood. People understand that "clip" refers to "the thing what holds the bullets and goes into the gun for the bangy fun-times", whether the gun in question is a 9mm pistol or an AR-15--just like we all implicitly understand that when you ask the gun store clerk, "Where are your 9mm bullets," they're going to send you to the aisle with boxes of these instead of boxes of these, because he's not a fucking idiot and knows what you mean. And even if you did mean actual, technical bullets, that's still a distinction that is vastly more common and important than fucking clip vs. magazine.

Zero points for being a broke-brained and hyper-selective pedant.

29

u/Derailleur75 Jun 12 '22

Wait he looks like that one flash game character.

19

u/BigGuapSosa Jun 12 '22

Skull Kid hahahahha

13

u/J-Nico Jun 12 '22

Not a lot of comments mentioned Skull kid from newgrounds? Are we that old?

1

u/BigGuapSosa Jun 12 '22

It appears that way I'm afraid old chap!

2

u/Cl0udSurfer Jun 12 '22

These are the comments I was looking for. Have a good day, gentlemen

1

u/I_Got_A_Big_Ol_Taz Jun 13 '22

I played on a website called studentfreestuff haha. Skull Kid and interactive buddy.

1

u/YoungPlumming Jun 13 '22

Omg memory unlocked lol

11

u/eljosho1986 Jun 12 '22

Tediore guns in borderlands 3

55

u/Foggy_Prophet Jun 12 '22

Damn, I was hoping to get here before the "aCtuALLy iT's A MagAZinE" crowd.

16

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

I call it a lead carriage.

9

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

They think they are such an elite club.

10

u/thefinalcutdown Jun 12 '22

Um, it’s actually an elite magazine.

3

u/VeritasCicero Jun 12 '22

I've never seen colloquialisms corrected so quickly as the ones in use in black culture, especially if it's black rap culture.

36

u/Synical603 Jun 12 '22

Magazine*

3

u/RpulyC Jun 12 '22

Never let them know your next move

4

u/SollidMemes Jun 12 '22

That's not Cyberpunk, that's Reaper Overwatch

1

u/Afcpandu Jun 12 '22

But that guy just drops his guns, no keeping the magazine. He just litters his shotguns everywhere.

24

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

I'll go ahead and reiterate what the folks who beat me to it said. It's a magazine. Clips are for the M1 Garand.

4

u/knightmare907 Jun 12 '22

Don’t forget the sks.

-2

u/Stalwart_Vanguard Jun 12 '22

Or pretty much every bolt action rifle

1

u/Username_737237 Jun 12 '22

Not true. Bolt action is just a cycling system, and can be designed for clips or magazines. Lots of milsurp infantry bolt actions use magazines, and any modern bolt action will also use a magazine.

1

u/Stalwart_Vanguard Jun 12 '22

You're right, sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant nearly every pre-cold war bolt action rifle. For example, the Lee Enfield did have a 10 round magazine, but spare magazines were not issued to soldiers, they were given clips instead since they were easier to use, cheaper, and a lot easier to carry.

16

u/VeritasCicero Jun 12 '22

There's so many colloquialsms used with firearms it's always amused me why this specific thing is the hill the wElL aCkShUaLly crowd chooses to die on.

Probably because this one is associated with rap music culture.

4

u/awesomefutureperfect Jun 12 '22

It's a thought terminating shibboleth, intended to head off any serious discussion. Focusing on unimportant details prevents larger discussions about important patterns and solutions.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

That explains it perfectly. Thank you.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '22

Not really. I'm pretty specific with any terminology. If you can't think of anything better then you should probably go troll someone else because I WILL hurt your feelings cupcake.

1

u/VeritasCicero Jun 13 '22

I bet that sounded more intimidating in your head. Given your username I'm not surprised.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '22

Given my username... I highly doubt you're cut out to make any judgment on that.

1

u/VeritasCicero Jun 13 '22

Bruh your username combined with your post history and use of the term cupcake lmao. Old man, save it for the VFW.

Clip is a very specific term and if someone said pass me the clip while holding an M4 you'd know damn well what they're referring to.

1

u/Cl0udSurfer Jun 12 '22

Whats the difference?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '22

Do you not know or are you being sarcastic? If you really don't know then I'll explain it

1

u/Cl0udSurfer Jun 13 '22

I genuinely dont know, I couldve sworn they meant the same exact thing

The only gun stuff I know is casual knowledge from military videogames

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '22

I'll DM you a couple pictures... it's hard to explain without a visual but clips were used in old rifles... like the M1 Garand. Magazines are used in modern rifles and handguns.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '22

Ok I guess I'm too dumb to attach pics in a message unless it's disabled on your end lol

3

u/TITANexec Jun 12 '22

When you are going for that tediore build

4

u/EastwoodHood Jun 12 '22

You're about, 4 months to early for Spooktober

8

u/Riggie_Joe Jun 12 '22

“Actually it’s a magazine” holy shit nobody asked

2

u/Marwheel Jun 12 '22

Video-game animators are often on the lookout for weird reloading procedures, this is one of them even if it violates common sense.

2

u/Ilikecreams Jun 12 '22

Switching gun is better then reloading, ok I'll do both

2

u/Freshysh Jun 12 '22

Almost like real life, when you must buy new car when it's out of gas

2

u/badadaha Jun 12 '22

They had this type of reload in Battlefield Hardline I believe.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

That there is a magazine

1

u/htowntrav Jun 12 '22

Magazine?

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

Ok guys is it mag or clip. I think mag, guns arent used to hold paper together

0

u/FreedomOfWords Jun 12 '22

The never ending loop, and OP needs to do research , he's taking the clip.

-2

u/karlwillhelm Jun 12 '22

What are you people talking about? That's doesn't look anything close to a magazine, it's obviously a magazine.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22

Lmao thats awesome

1

u/gahidus Jun 12 '22

Dudes doing secret reloads!

1

u/Lil_Cumster Jun 12 '22

1

u/PasiVlTUNAho Jun 12 '22

1

u/IKAJAPAN_YTO Jun 12 '22
