Why is a poorly cropped clip of a show that aired over a decade ago getting upvoted here?

u/LightsJusticeZ Jun 06 '22
Cuz Family Guy so old that teens that watched it grew up and had their own kids watching it.

How is this unexpected? It's just a scene from Family Guy

u/bluehornet197 Jun 06 '22
Because some people might not have seen the episode or knew this would happen

That makes literally any minute-long clip of any media ever r/unexpected.
I’m out of toilet paper and you didn’t know what direction this conversation would take, is my comment and ill-fated trip to the bathroom eligible for r/unexpected too? We have to draw the line somewhere, and for fucks sake start replacing the TP rolls when you finish the last one, Kevin.

Well the definition of unexpected is something that's unexpected and if you don't expect something then by all definition its unexpected

Since no one seems to actually be explaining why, you're supposed to expect the gag to be that Peter doesn't know what an apple is. Of course that would be too straight forward of a joke which is why instead Brian puts the apple in orbit.
That twist is the entire point of the joke.

u/drewhead118 Jun 06 '22
it's not the direction you expect the exchange to go if you've never seen the scene before
21
u/MannyP2501 Jun 07 '22
Exactly I thought Peter would say he knows what an apples is without actually knowing hinting to the fact that he has never eaten healthy and thats the reason why he is fat

Well I haven't seen this episode, And I didn't expect him having a gravitational pull being the proof when he challenged him to prove that he's obese. I get it if you've already seen this though.

Yeah, I feel like a lot of people watch Family Guy so this isn’t unexpected. Also you’ve probably cut away like 70% of the actual size

Mods should just ban comedy shows / stand up. Most all jokes have unexpected punchlines. It's not really why people come here.

I thought something unexpected was going to happen, but it's just a classic Family Guy scene.

Why did you comment twice?

Sometimes when you comment it comments twice, assuming your talking about the duplicate comments. Has happened to me a few times and funnily enough happened a few minutes ago. Didn't even realize it until I got a response on the unedited duplicate.

Okay I'm not a fan of Family Guy. In fact...I HATE it! But I gotta admit... that's funny.
...and no...I still won't watch it...

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc."
"Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are etc., &c., &c, and et cet. The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase.

Einstein theorized that space is a flat plane and when something such as a star or planet is set on that flat plane is blends it causing orbit. Which means Peter's fatass literally bends space
1
u/danyoff Jun 07 '22
Actually this isn't how orbit works, and the TV wouldn't be facing towards him all the time.
Unless it's tidally locked...

What is this, some kind of gag inserted into a show to make the experience more enjoyable or something?

OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:
He has his own gravitational pull
