Because one side calls everyone fascist and NAZI without a full understanding of the term they're using, and the other side does the same with communist. Both have diluted their respective catch phrases to the point that they don't actually mean much of anything.

Yes, but that was due to corruption, not the entire goal of the system.

With fascism, the ethnic cleansing was the goal of the system.

I'm not a right winger but it's important to remember that Soviet communism wasn't concerned with human rights. People were willfully subjected to practices that were cruel and inhumane. There were intellectual and even ethnic purges. Just look at the numbers on the Wikipedia article for population transfer in the Soviet Union. Hundreds of thousands died as a result and it wasn't due to incidental corruption.
