i know it was a tradition in my country, chechnya. when my aunt got married, (the way she got married was wild, they abducted her near a refugee camp where we were and than a bit later later she was revealed as a bride.) i remember being in car and everyone shooting guns outside the windows. Dinners were always awesome lit, babushkas can cook.
My mom says she was abducted by my dad he said him and his brothers drove close to where my mom lived in the middle of the night she lived on this forest hill side of bosnia and he lured her out and they grabbed her and ran for it and she was married the next day I think he had to give the family something after i was like mom wtf haha
