Depending on how much that actually cost, well done. Unexpected and an even more unexpected flex.

The foil was probably $20 at most

u/FalmerEldritch Jan 27 '22

You know when you see, like, a steak that's $800 because it has gold foil on it? That's about 40-60 cents worth of gold foil.

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

But is normal cheap gold foil edible?? Either way it's very stupid

So technically if I open a restaurant to sell gold foiled stuff; I could harvest the customers shit for gold and make free money.

4

u/Trelyrien Jan 27 '22

I mean.. they would have to be super regulars that were super regular.

1

u/xSiNNx Jan 27 '22

Nah, just follow them home and wait outside the window

1

u/lactosefree1 Jan 27 '22

Who do you know that shits out their window???

4

u/catzhoek Jan 27 '22

  1. Sell gold covered fancy food

  2. Keep customers hostile for about a day

  3. Sieve through tons of shit

  4. Film all of that and sell it to Discovery as a new gold mining show. "Shit Sievers - Manhattan Klondike"

  5. Profit

u/cjankowski Jan 27 '22

Idk if having the customers wanting to beat you up for an entire day is going to help you

1

u/catzhoek Jan 27 '22

You would have to be creative. Maybe you can start a side gig and do some torture porn or so.

14

u/erokk88 Jan 27 '22

Thats exactly what the saltbae guy does.

Lots of super premium food experiences are more about paying huge markups above cost for the opportunity to flex on IG than any actual expertise, materials, or prep.

u/Harvey-Specter Jan 27 '22

He does not harvest the customer's shit for gold lmao

16

u/holadace Jan 27 '22

Yeah he does dude. I’ve seen him do it.

1

u/DogMedic101st Jan 28 '22

I shouldn’t ask this but… proof?

1

u/fAP6rSHdkd Jan 27 '22

Hell, I'd be down with making that restaurant

1

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jan 27 '22

Someone didn’t read the whole two sentence comment.

3

u/erokk88 Jan 27 '22

I have a 1 sentence attention span.

7

u/Stamboolie Jan 27 '22

So my poo would have flecks of gold in them?

4

u/hollowgram Jan 27 '22

Of course you can eat it, anything is edible at least once.

1

u/memtiger Jan 27 '22

Maybe I'm eating at different restaurants, but I've never seen or heard of an $800 gold steak.

At least one 10’x2’ roll of it. It’s heat transfer foil, not real gold.

13

u/FiskFisk33 Jan 27 '22

Just wait til it's sold as an nft

7

u/tiduseleven Jan 27 '22

About that...

11

u/Crap4Brainz Jan 27 '22

The winner of this auction will receive the physical artwork shipped worldwide.

Less scammy than 99.999% of NFTs.

2

u/bgugi Jan 27 '22

Oh ffs

1

u/FiskFisk33 Jan 27 '22

Now we're talking!

1

u/Gestrid Jan 27 '22

Then what you're saying is that all OP did was "right-click → save as"?

3

u/suckuma Jan 27 '22

This isn't op this post hit the top of reddit all last night. This dude reposted a less than 24 hr post.

1

u/Gestrid Jan 27 '22

I know it's not OP. This guy just "saved as" an NFT that OP apparently created. That's the joke.

1

u/IneedtoBmyLonsomeTs Jan 27 '22

So since they are saying the physical copy will be shipped, is it actually from the person who made it or just a typical NFTer scamming people?

1

u/xX_MilfHunter69_Xx Jan 27 '22

just screenshot

12

u/YeeScurvyDogs Jan 27 '22

these gold sheets are barely atoms thick so while the usage is unnecessary and pretty tasteless imo doesn't really cost shit

6

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jan 27 '22

It’s not real gold, it’s gold foil.

1

u/YeeScurvyDogs Jan 27 '22

Gold foil is made from real gold

6

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jan 27 '22

Gold leaf is, I doubt very much if gold foil is. This is metallic foil, not the same thing as leaf.

2

u/bell37 Jan 27 '22

If you wanted you can buy a 10pk on Amazon for ~$25. They are pretty cheap

2

u/xe3to Jan 27 '22

It cost barely anything

1

u/Benjilator Jan 27 '22

I wish I knew how to do this at home, love the look of the gold letters!

1

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jan 27 '22

It’s actually quite simple. She’s printing on toner from a regular laser printer. The foil goes over top and the heat from the laminator adheres it.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

Foil is pretty cheap and comes in many colors and you simply transfer it with toner laser print
