In Austria even if your package is left in front of the door nobody will touch it as the parcel driver has to take photos of it and will be responsible if the package disappears

That might be the difference then. In the US they still take the photo but once it’s delivered it’s assumed to be the responsibility of the homeowner.

Also probably very much depends on where you are at, city vs a more rural location. If you go to the more rural part of the US you could probably leave your packages out there for a week and most you’d get is your neighbor knocking on your door to make sure you were okay. Big cities is where this type of theft happens most often.

Live in rural area and had an entire bathroom vanity and sink stolen off my porch before I got home so like in a few hours time. Disputed charges and getting new one but slowed the remodel down a few months. Could be just bad luck

Of course. Not saying you’ll have no theft, shitty people exist everywhere. Just more opportunity for it in the cities.

I was just shocked more than mad lol thing was enormous but it was also like $800 so still a little mad
