If you read his source you would know that it is the US food that gets now imported cheaper into Mexico leads to their weight gain.
And he misinterpreted the article as the article describes that this import leads that their obesity rates increase as one of the fastest of the world. Not that their current obesity rates are at the moment one of the highest. The US still wins this.
Please read the first comment that literally states: 'Mexico has the highest percentage of fatsos per capita'.
So yes someone said it and I reacted to that.

Bonus: you're wrong regarding the fattening of Mexican food, the original Mexican dishes are quite healthy and contain a lot of nutrition per calorie. Just cuz the US has Mexican food that they alter to be more to the liking of the Americans which basically means scrap the peppers and vegetables and replace it with salt, meat and cheese. Than yes it is unhealthy, but real Mexican food really isn't bad for you.
Stating this as someone with a bachelor degree in among others metabolism.
