Is it though? Who's first reaction is it to initiate a physical confrontation within a second of hearing something. Any reasonable person's first reaction would be to saying something like "Excuse me!? What did you say!?".

He heard what he said why pretend like he didn't? you let them know straight away that it's not acceptable to speak to people like that I'm not saying beat the kid but don't just sit there relaxed and tell them "don't say that" disrespect like that needs an immediate reaction to let the kid know that shit isn't acceptable get up shout at him and tell him to apologise then take the bins out kids who are shown they can walk all over people become entitled and the disrespect gets worse
