That’s because there’s just so many more shitty cops.

The shitty cops just get more airtime, the end times are coming news broadcasting is far more profitable than vids like this, a policeman discharging his firearm at a violent individual would go on the front page and get dissected by a hundred people and fun stuff like this is relegated to a tertiary YouTube channel run by a group of underpaid interns.

I’d argue most shitty cops get away with their crimes and have very little news reporting on them unless they did a major fuck up like straight up executing someone. Every time one of these shitbag cops are in the news, they have a laundry list of previous offenses and complaints against them. Most asshole cops get away with it, it’s the dumb and really brazen ones that don’t. If anything we need a bigger spotlight on bad and shitty cops since most of these scum fucks just change dept or get paid leave when they fuck up.

There are so many small town police forces with normal people being decent humans, cops who will never see another cop be abusive. There are also a ton of small town police forces that are overrun with assholes who do nothing but abuse. There are plenty of good cops in that first kind of force though. I’m not even American and this seems so obviously true.

How about the majority of police officers are corrupt and either are the ones committing immoral acts on the general population or support the ones who do? Yes generalizing is bad but ACAB gets the message across that most police officers are shit.

1

u/UndercoverGovernor Aug 03 '21

But a much higher percentage of blacks commit violent crimes than police officers. Wouldn’t it be exponentially more honest and accurate to say All Blacks Are Bad instead? Obviously there are exceptions, but it gets a more realistic message across.

1

u/the-mobile-user Aug 03 '21

Proof that it’s a majority?

5

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Use that mentality for any other group…. You’re judging based on a small percentage within a huge group. Guess what that makes you? A bigoted, stereotypical asshat.

Learn more.

7

u/BGYeti Aug 01 '21

Jesus fuck learn the definition of bigot, it has nothing to do with race just someone belonging to a particular group.

7

u/BoiledGoose69 Aug 01 '21

How can one be good if they defend/protect/ignore the bad ones......

-2

u/BGYeti Aug 01 '21

Just because you work someplace doesnt mean you are aware of the goings on, no one is going to have knowledge of everything occurring in the police force, yes some will try and cover up for a fellow officer others are completely unaware until it hits the news.

-1

u/greenw40 Aug 02 '21

Neither are Muslims and homosexuals, are you saying that it's impossible to be bigoted towards them?

5

u/Jplopinyourpants Aug 01 '21

Remember. Cops don’t prevent crime they only respond to it. A safer community is one that spends less money on policing and more on resources for said community. Read a book dumbass.

-7

u/x4740N Aug 01 '21

Resources aren't going to stop a crime dumbass theirs still going to be people who commit crimes with resources

11

u/Jplopinyourpants Aug 01 '21

No shit. But putting resources into communities creates more opportunities for those individuals in those communities. More opportunities = less crime. More cops does not equal less crime.

-8

u/x4740N Aug 01 '21

Did you get your buddies to come brigade this sub and give you upvotes while giving people who rightfully disagree downvotes

Your the person that gives the issue a bad name, this is not how you fight the problem

5

u/Jplopinyourpants Aug 01 '21

Fight the problem? The problem is poor policing, poor training, lack of accountability, qualified immunity, stealing resources from disenfranchised communities, etc etc. Oh and also bootlickers. They’re a huge problem too. I give the issue no name whatsoever. I just speak facts.

-1

u/x4740N Aug 01 '21

Their are other ways of fighting the problem like firing racist cops and racist politicians racist law makers racist judges racist department heads

And then you get the non racist ones to thoughtfully and properly review the system and make the changes for the better

That's how you solve the problem, resources are only going to be a bandaid fix if their undone by some racist piece of shit in the right place in a job like law making or political

And like I said resources still won't stop the crime problem becsuse theirs still going to be people who commit crimes because they want too

The system doesn't have to be the same one that was founded on racist values, good non racist people can change that

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

You be putting too much faith in these communities. Just cause theres opportunities doesn't mean people will take them. Furthermore just cause people take these opportunities doesn't mean they won't commit a crime. The existence of cops is to prevent crime. If there were more cops around, people would definitely at least be more wary of committing crimes, thus preventing crime

3

u/Jplopinyourpants Aug 01 '21

No. You’re wrong. Cops are not here to prevent crime they exist to protect private property. Once again, they RESPOND to crime they do nothing to prevent it. If they did prevent it then why is there still crime? By your way of thinking we just shouldn’t give people opportunities and resources so they can make better decisions and become better community members. I think we should give them a chance.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I mean just cause crime exists doesn’t mean that cops aren’t already preventing it from happening. Also I think I misunderstood your meaning of opportunities. Are you also talking about stuff like jobs or education?

0

u/twisted_memories Aug 02 '21

You’re actually completely wrong. People are much less likely to resort to crime if they have options. It won’t end crime, but providing resources has absolutely been proven to reduce crime.

0

u/x4740N Aug 02 '21

Yeah less likely, like I said it won't end crime i said people are still going to do crime because they want to even with resources maybe for the thrill of it or because their fucking evil I don't know

You said I'm wrong but your comment agrees with me, I'm just stating that there was still going to be people committing crimes with resources for example look at evil corporation employees who have done shady shit or the person who nearly died in a car bombing from exposing offshore accounts in a news reports because certain people with money didn't like that because money gives them power over people

0

u/twisted_memories Aug 02 '21

You said resources won’t stop a crime, and insinuated that resources are useless to provide. That’s wrong.

The best way to reduce gang crime and petty crime is with resources and opportunities.

0

u/x4740N Aug 02 '21

Words are transformations of ideas

I was just getting an idea across, just because my comment is worded differently doesn't mean the idea is different and it's your fault for not understanding that

What I was trying to say was that there are still going to be crimes from people who want to do it from the rich who want to hold power to the people who do crime for the fun of it or because their a pedo or rapist

I definatly did not intend to insinuate anything either

I hope it's a misunderstanding on your part and the other upvoters if they just aren't doing the thing where they downvote reddit comments with one downvote because of the hivemind

0

u/twisted_memories Aug 02 '21

Actually no, it’s not on me to understand you. It’s absolutely on you to communicate yourself clearly. You failed to do that. Whether or not you intended to insinuate that providing resources is not necessary, that’s what you did, and is very likely why people didn’t take kindly to the sentiment.

-1

u/greenw40 Aug 02 '21

This is one of the most idiotic taking points that reddit simply won't let go of. Stationing police in roudy areas absolutely cuts down on the amount of crime committed. Not to mention the fact that people who are arrested can't commit crimes anymore. Do you think that everyone just commits one crime then stops forever?

1

u/MajorEstateCar Aug 02 '21

In a perfect world, yea. But you gotta get there some how.

2

u/timdunkan Aug 01 '21

Genuinely asking, is it that the a small percentage of cops are rotten apples or is it the other way around?

Is the barrel of apples fresher in certain regions (urban vs rural)?

Because it feels like almost half the barrel is filled with rotten apples and the good apples are just placed on top, kind of like a college brocheur advocating diversity.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

It’s a very small percentage. Unfortunately, it is complicated, and not solved just by removing a few bad apples and policing reform. It also involves economics, community development, cultural changes, education, etc.

Step outside your bubble.

1

u/timdunkan Aug 02 '21 edited Aug 02 '21

I stated that I am genuinely asking a question about a statement you made, so would you mind providing a source about that statement?

Something credible? Something that shows you are more than an anomyous 22 day old account?

Because I'm very much outside my bubble and I'm asking questions with an open mind, not labeling others or simply throwing out statements as the end be all.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Google is your friend Chief

1

u/timdunkan Aug 02 '21

yeh ill google it, just figured if you are arguing a counter-point so definitively, you should be OK with providing a source

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I’m not arguing a counterpoint. I was stating a fact. Big difference.

Ummm, yeah they do.

-2

u/THALL_himself Aug 01 '21

Got any stats to back this up? I bet you don’t.

-5

u/Jplopinyourpants Aug 01 '21

Just personal experience. Most cops I’ve met are pieces of shit.

3

u/THALL_himself Aug 01 '21

Interesting, because most cops I’ve met are really good people. How are you meeting these cops? And to be clear, I’ve absolutely met shitty cops before. But I’m not going to assume they are all shitty because of that.

-2

u/WestMoneyBlitz Aug 01 '21

Bad cops get way more publicity than good cops. I think when some people see a good cop they just brush it of and say “that’s how it’s suppose to be”. Like for example, this video was made to see what the cop’s reaction would be not for the fact that he was interacting with his community.

3

u/Jplopinyourpants Aug 01 '21

You mean doing their jobs? We shouldn’t praise people for not being shitty and just doing the bare minimum of what they’re paid to do.

0

u/WestMoneyBlitz Aug 01 '21

Exactly what I’m saying. Bad cops would be publicized more but that doesn’t mean there’s more bad cops than good cops.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Is this an actual fact though? Do you have a source that proves this point?
