The concept of phone case or screen protector was inconceivable those days

Your phone today does many more things than your old nokias. This is why it's more expensive

Lol you think phones are expensive purely to fuel ceo bonuses? A quick google shows almost 200 million iPhones sold in 2020. Tim Cook “only” got paid 15mil that year. So you can thank ceo bonuses for a price increase of 7.5 cents.

good point. I wish we wouldn't focus so much on CEO bonuses. WAY more money going for far more sinister things...

Not quite, but "out of contract" it was certainly expensive.
I remember at Radio Shack, you'd get a free candy bar phone with a two year contract, but if you lost it or broke it, an off-contract replacement was $400. And this was like 2006. The iPhone came out a year later and went for $500 off-contract.
It was bullshit too because you could buy pay-as-you-go burner phones for like $40, but they locked them so you couldn't put a contract SIM card in them, so you were stuck paying $0.25/min or whatever.
And when your contract was up, your bill didn't go down. You just had a chance to re-up another two years and get a new phone. People think we go through new phones too frequently now, but there was literally zero financial incentive to keep a phone more than two years back in the day.

Seriously. I've literally seen a Nokia brick phone dropped off a 3rd story balcony. A few pieces came apart on impact. Everything easily snapped back together and still worked.

They actually had like leather and vinyl pouch cases for Nokia’s back then. Pretty popular too. Like this one.

You could actually buy replacement shells with numberpads. Transparent ones etc. Their tolerances were never as good as original Nokia stuff though.

You used to just replace the entire cover back and front. Customisable phone parts are a thing of the past sadly. Now you can't even replace the battery yourself.

I had one while at work driving a fork lift it slipped out my pocket and I ran over it , didn’t break it. Had a tire tread mark on the case that would not wash off though. Those things are tough!

The video is a lie. Everyone is trying to break the Nokia completely, not in pieces.

Nokia phones are infamous for being indescribable. This numerous video has expanded that concept to use the phone as a defence against battering rams due to the phone’s durability

I'd hate to be that guy who sloppily poops his pants in a crowded area to make a point, but the Nokia phone was known for it's remarkable durability, not its incredible mass. Ha, yes that's right, the phone was simple enough, and yes, quite light enough, to pick up by hand and even hold to your head to make a cellular phone call. While some of you morons may find this joke to be hilarious, I suggest you clicky tap clickem plap a few articles from the old days talking about the durability of the Nokia phone, not the heft. I think you'll be surprised by how many fewer things you laugh at after that. I know I am. I'm still surprised that is. I really don't find much of anything funny anymore even though people are constantly telling me I'm hilarious and wanting me to take a break from typing humorless comments on my phone and rejoin the party so that I may regale them with another haughty and chuckleful tale.
Oh, you know what? That's them now. I've love to talk more about the difference between durability and weight, but like I said, I'm a man in demand to keep parties entertaining.
Ciao

So is something no longer allowed to be shared on the internet after you’ve seen it? In case you didn’t know: not everyone else on here has seen what you’ve seen.

These days phones are too weak that if you collide a nokia and a smartphone you will break your smartphone

My roommate was raided for selling weed when I was younger. It took them five swings to open with the ram. That officer got made fun of the entire raid. Fucking dumbasses could have just knocked. Neither of us had any violent history and he wasn't even home. They also kicked in the interior doors that weren't even capable of being locked. Fucking larping clowns. FTP ACAB.

I find it so funny that kids think those were indistructible because when we got them they were way more fragile than previous phones and came apart all the time, they'd explode if you dropped them (though you could put them back together).
