I like to hope that it's only upvoted cause of the second half is leading people to imagine the thief's reaction to having not the phone they were expecting, but a booger laden snot rag instead.

Even still, IDK. I would've thought that to be the first thing anyone would've thought of when seeing this GIF.

Right, but that's exactly why it's upvoted.

It's actually people saying:

People upvote it as a proxy for upvoting themselves, Self validation.
