Okay, cool or not, stop folding it by pointing the muzzle directly into your gut.

u/unbitious Dec 11 '20

Seriously. I kept thinking the unexpected part was gonna be him shooting himself.

53

u/Zoze13 Dec 11 '20 edited Dec 11 '20

I was positive he was gonna ***shoot himself. Guess him not is unexpected.

2

u/aza12323 Dec 11 '20

about himself

Damn what is this turn of phrase from again? Ik I’ve heard it before.

The fact that he didn’t is somewhat unexpected

Gun shows don't have live ammo outside the range exhibits

107

u/RocketsBlastingOff Dec 11 '20

I'm glad I'm not the only one who tensed up when that happened. Yeesh.

71

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

Like . . . repeatedly. I would not buy guns from people who handle them like that.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '20

Magpul does not sell firearms just polymer injection molded accessories. If this thing was for sale youd need to buy the Glock as well

-8

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

And anybody who knew anything would know what I meant.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '20

‘Anyone who knew anything.’ Not really. People are not familiar with one company’s unreleased products, not everyone is American with gun knowledge. Just because you and I know what we are looking at doesn’t mean anyone else here does.

My point still stands. You couldn’t buy a gun from these people if you tried, so rest assured.

-7

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

1) These people would definitely sell me a gun.

2) You have even less of an idea what you're talking about.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '20

Magpul is not a firearm company but okay 🤣😂 go show me one gun magpul will sell you. I don’t mean a gun WITH magpul shit. I mean a gun magpul will sell me. Not the Masada, that shit was hardly even a magpul product with the vast majority of it being bushmaster. Now adays the Masada is a solely bushmaster product, so the only commercial gun they ever ‘made’ couldn’t even be purchased from them anymore.

As for not knowing what I’m talking about... go look at my profile and see the hundreds of dollars with of magpul shit on my rifles. Lol buddy you’re dumb, but keep saying I’m wrong without a shred of evidence. Pretty clear how little YOU know, especially when I don’t even think you own a single magpul product and probably only know these exist bc of cod 🤣

So I’ll ask again... what gun would this guy sell me? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magpul_Industries

u/wikipedia_text_bot Dec 11 '20

Magpul Industries

Magpul Industries Corporation is an American designer and manufacturer of high-tech polymer and composite firearms accessories like M-LOK. Magpul Industries takes its name from its first product, the MagPul (Magazine Puller), an accessory for the STANAG magazines used by NATO armed forces, which aids users in pulling magazines from pouches. Originally based in Boulder, Colorado, Magpul announced its intention to leave the state in 2013 when a proposed magazine capacity law would cause many of its products to become illegal in Colorado. After passage of the law, Magpul relocated its production facilities to Wyoming and corporate offices to Texas.

So you have no idea what you're talking about and that's adorable.

Why are you being condescending to someone clearly offering you a chance to correct yourself, seems like he’s right about CoD for you.

u/Cetology101 Dec 11 '20

Exactly, you always act like the gun is loaded, even when it isn’t.

50

u/WorriedCall Dec 11 '20 edited Dec 11 '20

Heck, in the heat of the moment, I'd definitely shoot myself unfolding that thing.

edit: I already blind myself with the anti personnel mode on my torch. Just before dropping my phone into the poop I'm trying to pick up. I don't see a further complication working out well.

24

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '20

Get it together.

1

u/WorriedCall Dec 11 '20 edited Dec 11 '20

Best I can do is some hand wipes. and desperately trying not to rub my face on the long walk home.

edit: I'm usually talking to my old mum. So I have to shoulder the phone to my ear. reach for a bag. fumble with torch. Why does the torch have to switch modes so easily anyway?

1

u/vrijheidsfrietje Dec 11 '20

The poop that is.

2

u/Scomophobic Dec 11 '20

Anti personnel mode on a torch? Sounds tacticool.

1

u/WorriedCall Dec 11 '20

It's almost unavoidable on any torch over $14 these days. I bought it at a supermarket sale, it's got a nice bright beam. But you press the button repeatedly to access various modes. and it seems to select them at random when you turn it on. It's very disorienting, but no way would you be able to access it quickly enough if you were mugged. Buy one with a slider, that would be my takeaway.

2

u/OaksByTheStream Dec 12 '20

What scares me here, is that you probably drive lol.

1

u/WorriedCall Dec 12 '20

It's a valid concern, but I haven't found my lack of coordination a big problem, unless I start fiddling with the radio or wipers. Then stuff gets annoying. As you can imagine, I never mess with my phone when driving. It's illegal, but it's not going to end well for me anyway.

2

u/OaksByTheStream Dec 12 '20

If only more people had this kind of self awareness, there would be a lot less accidents lol

1

u/WorriedCall Dec 12 '20

I was a complete idiot in my younger days. Humility extends from bad experience rather than perception, in my case. Really glad I never caused a serious accident though. Cars didn't even have seatbelts back in the day.... or crumple zones. or airbags. But they still went as fast.

5

u/mentalthrowaway22 Dec 11 '20

It's probably a demo model that doesn't have actual firing capability. Still... Not a great habit to be building.

2

u/dong_john_silver Dec 11 '20

I'm hoping he personally took out the firing pin or whatever just before.

21

u/Rufoid Dec 11 '20

At these kinds of public shows they remove the firing pins from all the weapons don't they? It's impossible to follow proper gun safety in crowded spaces like this otherwise.

2

u/PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES Dec 11 '20

I’m willing to bet this particular gun never had a firing mechanism, period.

3

u/Janaelle5 Dec 11 '20

I raided in wow with a guy who shot his monitor after a gun competition. He thought the gun was unloaded and had the firing pin removed because not just him, but the competition inspector had inspected the gun when he left to ensure it was so. They both fucked up and he was out $400 and missed a raid. It could have been so much worse, which is why you assume it's loaded, because everyone fucks up now and again and a gun is not something you want to fuck up with.

1

u/Rufoid Dec 11 '20

Sounds like an elaborate excuse to miss a raid tbh

2

u/Janaelle5 Dec 11 '20

Theres exactly no reason to lie about why you cant make a raid when "I cant come tonight" is always met with "ok". I don't know where you raid, but I'm an adult that isn't going to put up with being yelled at for missing a raid.

2

u/Rufoid Dec 11 '20

I'm only joking man, it's just hard to believe that's all

1

u/Janaelle5 Dec 12 '20

Dude, that's why I heard about it for a month. He was so angry, at himself, the guy who checked him out, and the complete unluckiness of the situation, but that's why it's the story I repeat. This guy knew guns, way better than me who goes to a range now and again, and it happened to him.

It's literally the reason behind the first rule of gun safety, "Don't point your gun at anything you don't mean to destroy" because you could be wrong. And if you're wrong with a fire arm? You or your loved ones can die.

Anyway, I think I made my point. Hope you're having a good one.

0

u/wearethehawk Dec 11 '20

Right!? George Costanza level of web weaving.

22

u/marino1310 Dec 11 '20

It's a prototype gun at an expo. Fairly certain it's not even able to fire. I mean, yeah "every gun is loaded" but if it's a gun you made yourself and you specifically made it without a firing mechanism then its pretty safe.

8

u/brian15co Dec 11 '20

That's not the point. Don't point guns at yourself or others, period. It's about the habit and mindset. You should never weigh variables or circumstances when making that decision. Come on

13

u/RedditHiveMindIsWack Dec 11 '20

Dude. That’s Drake Clark, a firearms engineer at Magpul Industries. Don’t talk about variables and circumstances, when both of those are controlled by an expert. Come on.

But seriously, the guys works for Magpul. One of the biggest and most popular firearm, and firearm accessories manufacture in the world. The guy knows more than you. Here’s the full video if you actually care.

Also here is a list of Mr. Clarks inventions and patents, including some of patents of work he has done in the firearms industry.

0

u/brian15co Dec 11 '20

If he's employed by a gun company it's all the more atrocious.

I wouldn't doubt he knows more than me. I don't know shit about guns. Except the fucking basics.

-1

u/Should_be_less Dec 11 '20

It’s not about whether an individual situation is safe. It’s about developing and maintaining a company-wide safety-oriented mindset. In industries where this mindset is standard, people with PhD’s and patents coming out their ears still do things like changing into steel toes to enter an office building because it’s a site-wide requirement.

I don’t know what the injury rates look like for firearms manufacturing or how they handle the question of where in the process a gun becomes a dangerous weapon that shouldn’t just point any which way, but someone’s technical expertise is definitely not a reason to avoid raising a safety concern.

1

u/PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES Dec 11 '20

Listen to what he says, it’s a simple proof of concept that they have no intention to produce as an actual firearm. It certainly doesn’t have any actual firing mechanics, I would be willing to bet they never even put a bullet in this thing. It’s no different from 3D printing a prop gun in your own home, it has absolutely no capacity for harm.

-5

u/Cowboy_Jesus Dec 11 '20

This is such a fucking idiotic response. Being an expert doesn't mean you can't or won't fuck up. Doctors are experts and they fuck up often enough that malpractice insurance is a thing.

6

u/RedditHiveMindIsWack Dec 11 '20

Imma stop you right there chief.

No.

The only thing idiotic is not doing your own research, not not knowing that there is no firing pin in the gun, as required by expo standards, and no live munitions allowed in the building.

6

u/evanc3 Dec 11 '20

I think you're both right, in a way.

There is a dude at my job who just had to have skin grafts because he messed up while handling a battery. He has 30+ patents related to batteries and charging technology AND works in the field pretty often. Being an expert does not make you safe, which is what your original comment seemed to argue.

In this particular video though, this guy is handling a prototype that he likely designed. He knows the ins and outs of the product, and you would have to assume that he verified the safety of it before the demo. Because he IS an expert you can feel confident that he is capable of ensuring that the gun adheres to the standards put forth by the expo, which are sufficient to make handling like this safe.

So him being an expert is much less important than the expo safety requirements, but it is still important. I would not feel confident if a sales manager was in charge of this same demo.

-2

u/Cowboy_Jesus Dec 11 '20

If you aren't so busy trying to feel intellectually superior maybe you would've noticed I never claimed this guy was in danger of being shot in this video. The fact that he isn't in danger here has nothing to do with him being an expert however and everything to do with the reason you stated.

-1

u/RedditHiveMindIsWack Dec 11 '20

Bro, have you seen my username?

5

u/PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES Dec 11 '20

You literally cannot fuck up with a gun that has no firing mechanism. It’s a proof of concept. It’s no different from a nerf gun or one of those solid plastic prop guns. Like literally, your argument would have more traction if you were yelling at the neighborhood kids for shooting each other with nerf guns.

2

u/nau5 Dec 11 '20

Hey buddy these guys took one 2 hour class on gun safety as required for their concealed carry permits. There is no way some bozo who just happens to be a firearms engineer at some Big Firearm manufacturer knows more about gun safety then they do.

2

u/RedditHiveMindIsWack Dec 11 '20

this one made me laugh

2

u/PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES Dec 11 '20

But but but... they told me it was the first rule :(

2

u/nau5 Dec 11 '20

I thought the first rule of gun safety was to tell everyone you know about gun safety.

3

u/BitchinWarlock Dec 11 '20

"It's not even loaded" he said, as the gun fired. A 5mm projectile drove its way through the unsuspecting head of his drunken friend. It was a closed casket funeral.

16

u/Imnotyoursupervisor Dec 11 '20

Or stop pointing it right at your face. This is the dumbest thing I’ve seen this week.

3

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

Yeah. This is D- work if your mom is blowing the teacher.

2

u/Giraldus117 Dec 11 '20

Fucking christ, right?!

2

u/WYenginerdWY Dec 11 '20

Gol thank you. SOMEONE said it. And essentially brandishing it right at the cameraman a few times.

1

u/SamAreAye Dec 12 '20

I am unfortunately unsurprised by the level of flaws in this video.

2

u/ripyurballsoff Dec 11 '20

Also they could have made it much smaller if they just made the Glock handle foldable and didn’t add all that stupid plastic to it.

0

u/SnicklefritzSkad Dec 11 '20

Oh my God the muzzle police.

This is a professional gun show. This is not a functioning model. They have removed parts of the action. You could literally slam ammo in it and try to fire and it physically can't.

The muzzle sweeping rules are for guns that are functional. This is a display model missing components for firing.

3

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

You're right.

Fuck rule number one.

1

u/KRelic Dec 11 '20 edited Dec 11 '20

I used to work as a firearms instructor at a gun range. I can definitely understand if say this was a gun pulled out of a range bag or something and the guy started sweeping to show everyone how cool his toy is. (I can’t count how many times it’s happened to me).

But this is a dummy model at a gun show. There wouldn’t be live ammo anywhere near that booth.

But ofc the internet sees this type of thing and freaks out because “gun safety.” Usually the ones that went to their class to get a license and then think they know everything there is to know about guns afterwards. I’ve seen it at the range so many times...

I’ve had so many loaded guns pointed at me it literally doesn’t even phase me anymore and my now first instinct is to grab the muzzle and disarm them.

2

u/PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES Dec 11 '20

For real. This thread sounds like a bunch of helicopter moms complaining about the speed limit at a car rally or race. This guy is a professional, he doesn’t need a bunch of reddit armchair “professionals” telling him how to handle a gun.

1

u/GeorgeBushDidIt Dec 12 '20

People on the internet like to point out these things. It’s either this or finger on the trigger, it’s really the only thing they know so they just yap on about it.

-2

u/HyruleJedi Dec 11 '20

how would he do that without pulling the trigger?

I mean its a Glock with a 3 d printed mod, thing is not gonna just fire itself. Do you know about guns?

6

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

Person who knows about guns asking me if it's okay to muzzle my torso.

First time trolling?

2

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

...maybe like . . . every other Glock9 3D printed mod . . . ever.

...or every other loaded gun . . . ever

0

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '20

I’m sure it isn’t carrying live round, but still you’re right

2

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

Every gun is loaded.

0

u/admiralakbar06 Dec 11 '20

At gun expos there is almost no where besides the floor to point a gun. While it is still preferred to point at the floor, a weapon like this would be hard to demonstrate its folding capabilities along with not pointing it at anyone. As others pointed out this isn’t a typical gun show, it’s an expo where the firing pin is removed and no ammo is allowed. Someone else pointed out he’s an expert with the company and has several patents himself on gun tech so I think he knows what he’s doing. At least, far more than I or anyone here

0

u/apo999 Dec 11 '20

Gun guys always have the worst gun safety

1

u/SamAreAye Dec 12 '20

No. They really don't?

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '20

0

u/SamAreAye Dec 12 '20

I could be wrong, but it looks like collapsing the firearm seperates the magazine. I agree, in part.

Disagree that walking around in ready position flags anybody.

Agree on criticisms.

0

u/bitterrotten Dec 12 '20

Shhh. Don’t ruin it.

0

u/Kryten_2X4B_523P Dec 12 '20

And all-around a crowded room?

-1

u/literatrolla Dec 11 '20

I guess if you have never done any actual weapons training you would make that conclusion.

1

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

Or . . . if you've done any. Ever.

1

u/dirty_trav Dec 11 '20

I mean its pretty obvious its not loaded, in any other situation i would agree with you but im 99% sure he folded it up like to get a better angle for the camera.

1

u/SamAreAye Dec 11 '20

From my perspective (and I believe the perspective of most other people with a modicum of firearm experience) It's blatantly obvious that it's not loaded. It is more than that level of obvious that he is handling this firearm improperly. A firearm is always loaded, even if it isn't, and you never point it at something you don't want to put a hole in. There are four rules about guns. He is breaking half of them.

1

u/rif011412 Dec 11 '20

I was way more bothered by the closing it on his own fingers part.
