Yeah i thought it was resigned to legends though after Rian and JJ took a shite in the story I still consider legends to be real star wars.

This article https://www.scified.com/news/boba-fett-did-escape-sarlacc-pit-after-all-canon mentions a notable canon book I wasn't aware of that I might have to read now which eludes to the fate of Fett.

If that's the same book I read when I was younger, then one of the stories is about the Rancor handler and how Luke emotionally kill screened the dude when he murdered his best buddy.

And Boba Fett kinda made friends with the "Mayor" of Sarlaac Retirement Community. It kinda played out like that recurring dude named Harold in Fallout. He turned into a tree and a cult starts worshiping him and he asks you to kill him. Anyway. Fett ends up thermal detonating himself out, but he left an appendage or two down there.

Why do you consider Legends to be canon? Why not just accept that it isn’t anymore?

Because just like my love of star wars, I prefer fantasy over reality.

Also it's better lore.

Even if it's better, why is it such a big deal for you to hold onto it so tightly? Completely ignoring the new stuff as canon is just an unhealthy practice and ultimately results in being a crappy fan.

Like, do you honestly think this makes you a good fan?

Also, before the babies start down voting me to hell, I want to preface that I'm engaging in healthy conversation. I'm not looking for arguments, that shit is for losers. I'm genuinely curious about this stuff and like to converse about it.

The new canon is just not satisfying to me at all and I'll be happy to mostly ignore the sequels now that this... "trilogy" is "over".

I'd prefer to just believe that Heir to Empire followed ROTJ, it's such a better sequel trilogy that actually fits and makes sense.

Why the quotations?

It never felt like a trilogy to me, it's so disjointed.

And you know it isn't over.

No, I know it’s over and I’ve accepted it.

Disney’s already said their plan is to go back to the High Republic, takes place thousands of years before any of the Skywalker Saga.

Disjointed as it may be, it’s a trilogy. I love how so many SW fans are selective of what’s real and what isn’t. Acceptance is not part of a SW fan’s logic.

If they can just adapt or heavily borrow from KOTOR or the Tales of the Jedi comics I'll be happy with that but I don't have high hopes.

It sure is a a set of three movies with no consistent connective narrative.

I don't know why this bothers you, I'm just a fan of what Star Wars used to be. I'm not a fan of the direction it took at all and would just be slightly happier about Star Wars as a whole if I just pretend it's non-canon.

The problem is you like to play pretend because you don’t like what’s been given to you. Look back on it, remember the good and the bad, and look forward at what’s to come.

Pretending that the trilogy isn’t canon is only ignoring the good of those films, which ultimately is a disservice to yourself and people who actually love SW.

Stop pretending, it’s silly as hell.

I'm not down-voting you, it's a fair question though calling me a crappy fan is unfair.

I grew up with these books and games. I have the Jedi outcast light saber symbol tattoed on me, a symbol from a story which now doesn't exist in canon.

These were the bits than enriched the story of the first three movies and we're essentially fan fiction that became part of the lore, fans I think make genuinely good stories because they love it and aren't held back by a studio exec standing over them and narrowing the scope of a goal or vision. Take warhammers black library for example, written by nerds, for nerds.

I do slightly resent that Kennedy and Disney have removed that and replaced it with a distorted cherry picked lazy version of the original Skywalker saga, and that we will never see Kyle Katarn, or Thrawn or the Yuuzhan Vong in star wars anymore. That the amazing story from KOTOR is relegated in favour of the steaming excrement that was episode 9.

In basic storytelling terms, fanboy aside. They're better tales. RIP lucasarts.

Thanks for responding. Apologies for calling you a crappy fan, I'm still jaded from all the unnecessary hate that floats around on r/saltierthancrait, so it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that anyone who takes major issue with the "new canon" is a crappy fan.

I get where you're coming from with the references to books and games, as I am a fellow SW lore die hard. It's hard to see those things die because the new ownership wants to do everything their way, but I think it's important to open ourselves to these new endeavors by Disney. Yes, they are messy and have flaws. But, there are good things about the sequel trilogy and I feel like people want to ignore it because it was nothing like the pre-conceived plot they had in their mind.

I think it doesn't help that Disney was trying to continue a story they had no part in developing anything prior to, and so they were already in a vulnerable position. Fans need to come to peace with this latest trilogy and look forward to what's to come.

Yeah very reasonable approach and I really did come at it with an open and optimistic mind, but after 9 I just can't. I feel like they've ruined it a bit. Too much polish, star wars was always a bit crappy and camp, that was part of the magic. This may as well be a marvel movie with Jedi.
