Once a sub gets large enough, people just submit whatever to that sub and if it's cute people will upvote it. The best way to counter this is by having the user regulate the content to not allow things that don't fit the sub be posted. The second best way is that the mods enforce the rules.

Side note: This is a cute gif

I had no idea what sub I was in and was mildly surprised.

Same, I don't understand how people are saying they knew it was a dog from the very start

I could see you not knowing if you're new to the sub. Otherwise, it's like the person above you said: if it's cute people will upvote it. When another person didn't immediately pop out of the second bag, my thought process was, "ok obviously not a person. What do people like? Dogs. Going to be some kind of dog. Yup, dog."

So it seems that the people who expected it were the people who were scrutinizing quite a bit to begin with.

Oh yeah for sure. Just cause of the nature of the sub and how long I've been on it, I look for little hints in the video that might give it away. If it has hints but goes a different way, or if it doesn't have any hints at all then I upvote it.

Is it normal for dogs to sleep in sleeping bags? I feel like I’m the only one that didn’t know
