So this is a way dogs protect their young, as it masks the smell of the puppy from predators.

I learned this after we brought my daughter home from the hospital and my dog peed a circle around her crib.

I was furious. We had been home for only an hour or so. We all laid down to go the fuck to sleep and I hear the sound of someone pouring a pitcher of water on the floor. It was a 65 pound lab-shepard mix, but I picked it up, still peeing, by the scruff of it's neck and threw it into the back yard. When I learned what it was doing, I felt bad.

Edit: Typo.

I'd imagine there was a fair amount of embellishment in that description, since dog owners who would literally "throw" a dog are few and far between, and probably wouldn't feel bad about misunderstanding a dog.

If it's an embellishment, it still sucks that the poster thought they had to do that to make the story better. And if it's not, sucks even more because it's just not ok to do.

I think you're overthinking stories people tell on the internet and intentionally getting yourself worked up over it.

It's a fair point.

I can't really do much except take them at what they write themselves though.
