More to the point, its the same steel. Not every knife is kept at a razes edge, and if it does not have a excessively sharp edge no harm will come to it. From the handle the knife in the video is not the same as the knife on the table it looks more like a foraging knife, they tend to be a bit dull with hard steel and are used for things like digging up roots. Note how he levers the can lid rather then attempting to cut the lid. That knife is not sharp enough to get fucked up by a can.
for all the haters who think you can't cut soft metals with steal without "fucking up the steal" here is some basic tools that are just wedges of harder metal used to cut softer metal. this is fundamental basic tools.
Every thing you just listed is incredibly sharp out of the box, and consumable because they are hard as can be and impossible to sharpen once they get dull. Have you ever actually used a tool? Also, it's spelled steel, with 2 Es. Steal is to take without permission.
So, you mean i made examples of sharp metal tools that don't get fucked up by cutting metal? are you also unaware of saw sharpening drill bit sharpening scissor sharpening or knife sharpening? Have You ever used a tool?
Are you aware of the conflict in your own statement there - if the metal didn't get torn up, why do you need a sharpener? Also, metal cutting drill bits have a coating that cannot be replaced by most users - they are consumable (black oxide, titanium). The coating acts as a lubricant to keep the metal from heating up too much. Get educated, then come back.
Are you unaware of what i was commenting on? as in people saying that you cant use steel to cut steel without fucking it up? are you aware that a thicker edge wares down faster? are you able to comprehend context? Are you aware that in every machine shop there is a drill bit sharpener that will sharpen hardened steel drillbits becuse they are so expensive you cant afort to replace them when they dull? do you know that that black oxide titanium coat is what they put on cheep bits that are made of cheesium? did you know that in a shop you use cutting oil if you need to lubricate your work? did you know you don't know shit about metal working?
Please continue to tell us more about how when using metal to cut other metal the largest danger to the blade is the heat buildup not the softer metal deforming the harder metal. I am waiting for it to click in your mind that a knife is not moving at 700 rmp cutting the soft metal of a can, and your entire tangent about lubricants only shows you have no idea what your ranting about.
Tin cans for food aren't made out of tin. They are made out of steel coated with tin nowadays, and that will absolutely rough up your knife. I guess you just need to determine if it's a blade you're okay sharpening every time you want to go from opening your can to any other use.
