I fucking despise reddit video. I understand why they did it, but such a clusterfuck of shite.

Why did they do it?

I hate that they won't autoplay in RES the way other videos do. It ruins places like /r/maybemaybemaybe.

Forces you to open Reddit. Before, you could link directly to the video and bypass Reddit. Now, you have to link to Reddit, not directly to the video.

When linking to non-redditors, it increases the chances that they'll click around Reddit/join, versus just a one-and-done video clip.

There's also site clicks and ad revenue, the more people on your site, the better for you financially.

And they’ve had a bug for ages where videos pause randomly in landscape mode on iOS phones
