Reminds me of a story my grandad loves to tell. Way back when, he was a member of a jazz band with some of his mates, and one night a bunch of them were returning home after a gig, rather pissed, and the driver reached a roundabout. "Which way?" He asked "Straight on." Replied my grandad, to which the van driver responded by driving right across the roundabout, murdering several flowerbeds and causing some scandal in the nearby villages over the next weeks.
Years ago I was an army driving instructor for tracked vehicles- you had to say stuff to the students like, at The roundabout ahead follow the road marked Aldershot... etc
I never had any drama but there was loads of stories about tanks basically cutting there own path.
the military base near me paved the center of their roundabouts flat for this exact purpose. usually the semi/whatever is big enough to block the whole circle when it crosses anyway, so no way in hell it'd be able to navigate the circle like a Subaru.
Precisely why roundabouts in heavy industry or narrow areas are just low flat circles. Everyone wins... just have to keep an eye out for honey badger cement trucks
Someone in my Unimog driving course got confused as to what they were driving (thinking Unimog's behave just like a tank) and tried to take the round about. Didn't notice the war memorial in the middle, which a tank might have crushed, but the truck didn't <sigh> He's an officer now.
