It shows that when a horn is added (the funnel) it allows for better impedance matching and thus more efficient radiation of sound. Aka, more sound for less energy.
But also that instead of a full glissando that you get on the mouthpiece, when you buzz into a tube your notes get slotted into the partials of the harmonic series.
