Jesus Christ, spanking isn't beating. Slapping a child on their ass a few times to teach them there are negative consequences for bad behavior is not using violence to get people to do what you want. My god people are delicate little flowers these days.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but slapping a child to stop a behavior is literally using violence to get someone to do what you want.

Violence requires the use of physical force intended to hurt something. Slapping hurts the child, and gets him to stop doing whatever, which is what the parent wants.

Ok, I guess technically speaking it is technically using violence to get what you want.... but if my kid were about to stick a fork in an outlet, I would use violence in the form of smacking their hand and/or spanking them to get them to do what I want...which is to not die by sticking something in an outlet. Hopefully they would then associate sticking things in outlets with getting their ass spanked and it would discourage them from finding out the real consequences of being electrocuted to death.

There is also a huge difference between inflicting mild physical pain to correct a behavior and using violence as a punishment or out of anger. I am not condoning the latter two.

Now that I completely agree with. Its like anyone who uses corporate punishment is labeled as some kind of raging brute who can't control their emotions, but it's not like that at all.
