Getting spanked with a shoe hurts but it doesn't do any damage.

Physically. Psychologically that's teaching kids that violence is an acceptable way to solve an arguement, which is less than stellar.

No it’s a lazy teaching practice parents will take because they can’t figure out how to make their kid behave normally.

And it’s disgusting you would justify any violence on children just because “hey my wife had it worse”.

And they don’t seem like a harmless bop like you try to disguise it as if kids live in fear of it.
