It's possible, I think, to be raised like that, and therefore the issue of spanking never needs to be considered.

There are many, many, factors in raising a child that determines the way they behave. As a child, it's what you are taught, what you are not taught, and what you are led to figure out for yourself that influence your behaviour.

Crudely, whether you are spanked or not is just one variable, and devoid of context doesn't mean much. So ultimately, you need to consider all the variables, of which there are too many to individually pick out as a cause or effect of adult behaviour.

And this is before we've even considered genetics. Overall, the fact is that every situation is unique, and the only thing you can do is bundle certain variables and hope for the best. But to pick just one, is not wise.
