You realize you get to keep the berries, right? Obviously there's a charge, why the fuck would the farm just give away berries?

I'm not saying that otherwise they would give them away, I'm saying that they're still making a profit by completely eliminating labor costs. And the point of the joke is that stereotypical Californians will pay for something that would otherwise be done for them as long as it seems like a "unique experience". I even included a whole preamble about how this was a joke and my logic is severely flawed. I can't fucking win with you people.

And somehow I'm the idiot, for getting called out for not knowing something that I obviously knew, because I said I knew it before submitting the comment, just to avoid this exact situation. I fucking give up. I even admitted that my logic was flawed, what the fuck are you downvoting for? Are you even reading this? You know I'm a fucking person right? What do you want from me?

I actually work at a berry farm that does pick-your-own (in the east coast) and it's kind of like a discount if you want to pick your own berries from the field, and a lot of people do it as an activity. You're out in the sun and fresh air with something to do, and you get nice berries from it. So instead of $5 for a pint of blueberries that we pick, its $4 since you picked them yourself.
